  • R-Motion Review Video!

    Pitching Wedge: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gtk7mWQqgq4

4 Iron(guy saw me practicing and I was explaining to him): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zmsyaW-UEQM

Here is my first basic review of the R-Motion! I was one of the lucky 10 who received one. It took me a while to try it out because I was buying a new computer that could run it.

    1st time trying it out--
    -Driving Range
    -Around 58 Degrees outside
-2013 15" Macbook Pro 2.6ghz Quad Core 16gb ram Nividia GT 750M 2gb Video memory
    -Running Bootcamp
-Facetime Camera aimed down range while running R-Motion Software While Screen Recording (Only running R-Motion Software works perfectly)

Quick Summary: After complicated setups with other systems and being let down by others accuracy in the Sub $1000 range, I can't believe how well this works!!! Not even comparable to my Optishot which never worked. Forget difficult lighting and club taping! Swinging a 4iron at full speed and seeing it duplicated on screen accurately was great!!

Accuracy: Short Irons picked up great! Longer irons like my 4 worked great too. Had some problem for example: Sometimes (I believe the cause) when hit near the heel it would start out right and come back left, instead of just straight left. Still wouldn't finish left enough. If hit center of club face it read fine. Didn't pay too much attention to distance the first time but seemed acceptable. Will have to study that next time.

Software: Basic software worked fine on my MacBook Pro Running Bootcamp. It does need some more basic features. Picking a spot and distance to practice from for instance.

Wish List: 2 biggest are Detecting a heel or toe shot and picking a spot on course to practice from.

That’s great to see it compared to actual ball flight. Looks like it was pretty accurate except for the hosel shot. I don’t think that will ever be able to be read accurately unless there is a way for it to be able to tell where on the club face the ball was hit. What was going on with the no-reads? What did you do to fix that?

Maybe I didn't hold it still for a complete second? It just worked after that, no problems. Might have been low battery too. I didn't figure out the audio recording till after I filmed so I was trying to use hand signals for the direction so I could analyze later. The program actually has a spot for face detection but they don't have it implemented. I think another club analyzer can detect that.
Definitely comparing it to real life is the best. Seeing the actual flight on a range, well can't get much better! I will upload some more tests videos later but love this thing!!!! 110% recommend over all other sub $1000 sims/analyzers!

Another Plus: The delay between hitting the ball and the simulation software showing your shot is a split second! Saw the long delays on the Skytrak and awesome that the R-Motion is different.

@golffun2..... you can hit from different spots.... Hit a shot without having autorewind on..... then turn it on and you will be hitting from that spot. I usually practice the short game like that. I hit a wedge down the middle and then turn on autorewind. I now am surrounded by greens in which to aim at.

I mean actually pick the spot and go there instantly. Instead of me trying not to hook or overshoot 5 shots in a row to get there each time lol

I do about the same thing Keither does. Not sure there is a better way right now.
