what courses come with the r-motion? I know you can buy the full package with lots of courses but just curious what the initial ones are. How does the game play vs the optishot as far as graphics and realism compare?

Graphics on TGC is significantly better than Opti. Game play is personal preference, and personally i would give the nod to TGC as well. Hardware, hands down R motion is better than opti in terms of consistency and you don't have the nuances of lighting, taping clubs to bet better results. -
I've played TGC for years on PC/Steam, bought it on the console too. I was hoping there were good courses with the standard 15. I didn't know if they were chosen for how easy they would be on simulator or their design beauty.
I'd say there is a good mix. If my memory serves me correctly and I could give a full list later I think Golf Club of Houston and Pinehurst #2 are on there. A good driving range and many others. Some are what they call auto generated and are not much to speak of and others are decent courses. At least one par 3 course and so on. It's a nice mix for a stock setup that comes with hardware for $300!
As far as quality of graphics I can't speak to optishot but I was in the same boat on budget and value I'd get out of one of these "game" like simulators. I'll say I'm very impressed with rmotions tracking and speed of calculation.
If you've watched videos on SkyTrak a $2k unit it takes a couple of seconds to show up on screen (maybe as many as 3, not sure what their official # is) but rmotion normally takes less than a second. This adds to the realism in my opinion. The ball doesn't take flight after hitting the net/screen like the high end units but it's not far off normally.
TGC is a great game, pick it up on Steam for $20-$30 not sure it's current price. Test it out, see the quality and physics! Purchase the Sim for $300 and then if you want to play online or have access to 100,000+ courses many hundreds of which are truly amazing designs from community members then add another $500 and your set! There will be a free upgrade as I understand it to TGC 2019 when released...about 2 months after official launch for us sim users.
It all adds up to a no brainier for most people looking for a budget entry sim that is super fun!Comment

See comparison of graphics, Optishot vs TGC. I was always happy with the way Optishot played and looked but it's dated now when compared to TGC. Should also point out that TGC is not on highest graphics settings as my desktop PC is not that great.
