  • Big distance drop with woods

When I received my R-Motion a couple of weeks ago, it showed that my shots were not going as far as they do in real life. Thanks to advice on this forum and increasing the club lengths (with the driver at the 40" maximum), I was able to get the shot distance up to a decent level, with the driver going an average of 200 yds. with a max of about 225 yds.

Suddenly, however, the distances on the woods have dropped drastically. The driver now goes an average of 150 with a max around 175 -- some drives go less than 130. The fairway woods are similarly affected. Irons have dropped slightly but not nearly as much. I've tried real, foam, wiffle, and Almost Golf balls, same problem with each. The sensor is up against the grip and can't go any higher.

Any thoughts on what might have gone wrong? Hope it is not a defect with the sensor, but I'm getting worried.

    Thanks,
    Bill

Don't know what has happened. However, try moving the sensor lower on the shaft without change the distance in the club settings.

Check the profile as well if you are using TGC and not the app. I heard some had issues where they adjusted the clubs under one profile but then TGC pulled a different profile in when playing.

Exactly what I was going to say...this messed me up at first...your club settings are different in the app and TGC. Need to adjust both.

You are right yet again, moving the sensor lower restored my previous driver distance. But why? The sensor was just below the grip before when I was getting decent distance, what could have happened so that the sensor must now be lower? Also, I'm sure when I first got this simulator I tried moving the sensor lower to increase distance and it did not help at all, in fact moving it lower decreased the distance.

Anyhow, it's working for now. My real golf course is reopening tomorrow, so I may not play much on the R-Motion until the "second wave" of the virus shuts us down again.

What do you mean by "profile"? As golfallyear mentioned, we definitely have to set the clubs separately on the Android app and TGC. But on the PC, as far as I know the club lengths are only adjusted in the R-Motion program and are the same for all players on TGC. The only swing setting in TGC itself is right-hand or left-hand. There's also a Driver setting, but braycobb mentioned it does not work with R-Motion, and I'm pretty sure he's right.

Within the R Motion program on the PC there is a settings area to adjust clubs and there are multiple profiles to adjust. You should see a drop down option There is a Default Male, Defualt Female and then the profile setup for TGC. In my case it is my name within TGC. Some people have been complaining that another profile was automatically being created so their adjusted numbers were going back to default. It did not happen to me but it would explain why distances would go down is you origionally had everything set.

Thanks, I had not noticed that drop-down menu.
