  • Ball flight not matching real life - help a noob!

    Hi All,

My wife just got me an r motion for our anniversary and I'm pretty excited.

I've searched here and youtube a lot for the answer to my problem but I'm having a hard time getting it right. I've taken the r motion to the range twice now and also hit it in my garage into a net. Almost all of my shots are going straight to the left as a pull hook(I'm right handed) and it seems to be because the club face is registering very closed, often over 20 degrees closed.

When at the driving range I'm hitting a draw starting right and working back left, but the app still says pull hook.

I've read that adjusting the sensor placement can help but I've moved it all over the place and still get the same result. It happens with real balls and foam.

I've seen the club face at address can be an issue, I'm trying to keep it square but maybe I'm messing this up? I was also thinking maybe because I have a pretty slow back swing tempo(which my instructor loves) maybe it's reading a starting point during the back swing?

    I need help!

I got these issues with my shorter irons but my longer ones were usually OK. I am using Uneekor now and I do see my short irons are slight pull/draws but nowhere near as bad as R-Motion tells me. I never found a solution for it. When playing a round on TGC I would aim way off to the side and the result would usually be where I wanted it to go. Not ideal for practicing your game but it works for simulator play. I also think my mat is part of the problem. I currently have a mat similar to CCE and I tend to hit the ball a tad heavy on miss hits. I think R Motion is seeing/feeling that and maybe over compensating the result.

Only suggestion that sometimes worked for me as moving the sensor around. Both up and down and left/right. I know you said you have tried but keep trying. My guess is it is reading your club path properly but since R Motion does not read ball data, it is not able to pick up the reaction of the ball that has its own properties that affect its flight. You probably have a swing flaw like I do. I would actively try to stay behind the ball with my head steady and I could get straight shots. It just felt unnatural and different from what I do on the course. I have not tried this at the real range to see how it impacts my ball flight but I definitely can try this now with Uneekor as that is picking up my flight perfectly. Unfortuntaley for my sim scores!

Thanks for the reply! I'll keep trying to move the placement around I guess!
