Premium subscriptions:
MLM2Pro is a fantastic unit for the price. I'm currently testing against the Mevo plus and GC3 but will soon test it against the Skytrak 2 and Eye Mini. I've had it for a month and I am testing without the premium package to see how it will be if folks don't spend the $199 yearly subscription. I realize you get 1 year free and will sign up now that I have tested without the premium. I just wanted to get an idea of what it would be like without premium and share that with you.
Without the subscription you can't play full courses in E6, Awesome golf or GSPro. You don't see the spin data (spin or spin axis) and get a 2 D representation of the ball flight which matches the GC3 flight absolutely perfect. You need to set it at net mode and use the RPT balls. It obviously measures spin and spin axis with these balls but just doesn't display the numbers. It would be fantastic if they would include a 3D ball flight for a more immersive experience for non premium members who just want a driving range. The 2 D flight and data tiles are fine but very, very bland compared to a 3D range. Certainly it's not as fun but just ok for practice. Again a 3D range would be a welcome. I personally would recommend the premium for better immersion and 3rd party software options.
RPT balls and stickers:
The RPT balls are absolutely needed for spin and spin axis measurement. In the app you have the option of selecting range/premium/RPT balls. You can also select net or range mode as well as altitude. These options will determine not just spin measurement but also flight and distance. Premium ball selection will essentially show a straight shot but better distance. The ideal is absolutely RPT balls.
The RPT balls are Callaway chrome soft with a special marker patter. They only come with Callaway and there are no other options from Rapsoda. You get a sleeve with your purchase. They are not my ball of choice so there are stickers that can be purchased to allow you to use your ball of choice. These stickers are easy to apply and work great but do wear out over time. Overall they are are great and well priced.
