  • MLM2Pro - Yup... I am done with it

Well even with latest updates, last Monday night we could not get through a simulator session on Awesome Golf or E6 Connect. Both kicked us out with connection error after about 6 holes, 4 people playing.

Also both Awesome and E6 seemed to forget I had paid subscriptions and went into trial mode. This is frustrating as hell when you have 3 people waiting to play. Rapsodo was supposed to provide keys that worked, but they didn't work and I also had paid for both apps, subscriptions with MLM2PRO. Very frustrating. I think the issue is that something was keyed to the serial number of the Rapsodo. I got a new one in an exchange so everything kind of quit working...

My buddy who owns the sim has the faithful old Garmin R10... We played all last winter on that thing and NEVER had a disconnect. While I cannot speak to the accuracy, it allowed us to play golf, reliably on snowy days/nights.

Rapsodo replaced my MLM2PRO with a new one. I had to pay return shipping but they sent the return fast saying they were doing this for all MLM2PROs that were having connection issues. Well the new one, with latest app is just not much better.

So today I made the decision to move on. I will be putting my MLM2PRO up for sale. I've got a Skytrack+ coming. A bunch more money but everyone I've talked so says the experience will be better and for my needs it requires a little less room since it mounts beside the hitting area. I don't have enough years left of golf to spend my time beta testing. I would like something that works reasonably well so the extra money is worth it.

I feel I gave the MLM2PRO a good try but even after 6 months it still is pretty much unusable for my needs. I am hoping to get some kind of winter sim working at my house and honestly the MLM2PRO had derailed my desire completely.

Sorry to be the bummer here. But I cannot honestly recommend the MLM2PRO to anyone.

The connection process is still clunky as hell. Side-by-side my buddy connected his iPad to his Garmin R10 in about 15 seconds. 3+ minutes later I was still trying to get the MLM2PRO connected. I had to restart the app twice and it takes for ever to scan WiFi networks.

    So I'm moving on...

Anyone interested in a pretty much new and unused MLM2Pro? I even have the spotty balls to go with it...

    Hi

I think you made a mistake.

You can buy the Uneekor eye mini for 3.5k now.

I would buy that instead and be done.

To each his own, hope it works out for you.

What sim are you using now HappyGilmore102? Many choices as you say.

      HI Bubba22

I have the R10, Skytrak and MLM2pro which is still in its box.

I wanted to buy an eye mini, but when it was released at 4.5k I said no way, not in these launch monitor days.

The 3.5k price point is right in my view for something like the mini, but I will hold off on purchase till next Feb just in case Garmin release something new.

I thought the ES16 might eventually get sorted, but clearly this is not going to happen.

I have to be honest though, since i got the little garmin i never use the skytrak anymore.
Its just so easy to use, reliable, portable, indoor/outdoor, water resistant, I even travel with the R10 between my homes in IRL & SA.
Not worried about a $500 unit getting damage during travel, but its a tough little bugger as well.

Its more than accurate enough for me, I'm low single figure golfer, worked as a club pro giving lessons in my younger days, and as I said before, no trackman, Quad etc will turn anybody into a pro.

In my experience the better the player the less likely they are to jump onto a launch monitor unless they are being fitted for something.

I think the skytrak plus is great, but the price point is wrong and out dated.

Thanks for the input. I really don't know much about the Uneekor eye. I purchased Skytrak+ based on a fair amount of research and price point.

I will say that it came in quickly and I decided, due to all the WiFi connection problems to setup a Win10 USB computer and run it that way. Our first session with that was simply flawless. I mean we had only two mis-reads out of some 150+ shots. It seemed to work really well.

We also played TGC 2019 and completed 9 holes at Pebble Beach which went very smooth. The only minor item is my buddy tends right now to hit low stinger drives. He is trying to fix that but when I say low, I mean like 6 inches. The Skytrak+ freaks at these and thinks that you have driven the ball into the ground which may actually be right depending upon terrain, but it gave him like a short pop-fly on these drives. He needs to fix that for real because on the course he tends to do the same thing and drives it into the deep grass just off the tee.

For my driver it read almost perfect. I am older so not a great distance but I hit a couple good ones that read out 240+ and they felt like good solid drives too.

My buddy also has a very bad banana hook on some of his irorns when he kind of gets too aggressive. The Skytrak+ read all of those perfectly. I mean my buddy would hit, say I hooked it, then we'd watch the ball flight be a perfect replica of his banana hook.

So it, so far, is working just fine. This winter it is unlikely I will take it outside. I have the MLM2Pro still and I have their smaller monitor too. Both can be my driving range units. But for the indoor sim I think the Skytrak will do just fine.

I will however research the Uneekor eye. Really don't know much about it.

I think I am done with mine as well. I think it's a good unit overall, and impressive for the price. I like swings recordings. I think that the data is accurate enough. My issues are:

      1. The software is horrible. Practice mode only displays 3-4 statistics (depending on screen size), and the 2D view is pretty useless. The Range mode is painfully slow in displaying the shot, and doesn't give you a summary of the shots. This is what you need to pay $200/year for?

      2. I realize that I would prefer to be a little closer to my net given the layout of my space.

      3. I don't like the Chrome Soft X balls. I don't play balls with compression that high. I bought some stick-on dots so I could use my own ball but found them to not be durable. I worry this will be a constant struggle.

In the end, I bought a used SkyTrak (OG). I don't need something for sim play (although neither really integrates easily with GSPro, which would be my software of choice), only for practice. I think that the free SkyTrak software is way better than the $200/year MLM2Pro software. I don't doubt that this will eventually lead to a newer/better photometric LM at some point.

On a side note, I want to say how amazing it is to have even a basic sim setup at home for my game. Knowing I can go hit balls for 15 minutes any time I want takes a ton of pressure off my practice sessions, and keeps me focused on the practice plan. When practice is rare or expensive, it was too tempting to lose focus and deviate from the plan. Even after two weeks, I've already seen the clear results on the course. This has been with the MLM2Pro and I do believe that many people can benefit from it; I just think that there are probably better options for most people if you're willing to spend slightly more money.
