I bought the MLM2Pro when it first came out. I waited through numerous updates, and Rapsodo even replaced the unit once. More updates, it was still frustrating to use with continuous disconnects.
I bought a Skytrak+ which has been extremely good. I thought I would sell my MLM2Pro but kept it. As we approached fall I was able to make space in my garage for a hitting net and figured I'd break out the MLM2Pro for practice purposes. The Skytrak+ lives over at my friends house where his garage is a full on sim.
Unfortunately, one evening a toe hit knocked a all into the Skytrak+ and took it out. It was in the protective case and everything and we'd hit it a few times before without issue. But this hit took it out. So it was shipped back for repair.
To our next sim night I brought the MLM2Pro AFTER the big update recently. I was hoping we could get in a few holes with four people. But alas the disconnect issues remain. First we put it on the WiFi with a WiFi access point not 5 feet away. 3 holes into a round of golf it disconnected. I was able to reconnect it in direct mode and it went another couple holes and gave up again.
Each time required several restarts of the MLM2Pro software on the iPad. I also found in direct mode, without a good network connection, even though my iPad has cellular service that MLM2Pro would not load the golf courses and allow us to play.
Needless to say it was a frustrating evening considering all the so called "great new updates" it is still a $700 dud that refuses to stay connected. It regularly kicks you out of a sim session with a disconnect.
In contract, last winter alone, we played weekly 9 or 18 hole matches on the Skytrak+ with the worst thing being a few missed shots.
As a medical device developer that has to talk to lots of various devices over networks and USB I am simply shocked that Rapsodo cannot keep connected to their own stupid device.
So it will be relegated to a simple practice tool at my hitting net. Such a huge disappointment.
