  • MLM2Pro - Still a huge disappointment

I bought the MLM2Pro when it first came out. I waited through numerous updates, and Rapsodo even replaced the unit once. More updates, it was still frustrating to use with continuous disconnects.

I bought a Skytrak+ which has been extremely good. I thought I would sell my MLM2Pro but kept it. As we approached fall I was able to make space in my garage for a hitting net and figured I'd break out the MLM2Pro for practice purposes. The Skytrak+ lives over at my friends house where his garage is a full on sim.

Unfortunately, one evening a toe hit knocked a all into the Skytrak+ and took it out. It was in the protective case and everything and we'd hit it a few times before without issue. But this hit took it out. So it was shipped back for repair.

To our next sim night I brought the MLM2Pro AFTER the big update recently. I was hoping we could get in a few holes with four people. But alas the disconnect issues remain. First we put it on the WiFi with a WiFi access point not 5 feet away. 3 holes into a round of golf it disconnected. I was able to reconnect it in direct mode and it went another couple holes and gave up again.

Each time required several restarts of the MLM2Pro software on the iPad. I also found in direct mode, without a good network connection, even though my iPad has cellular service that MLM2Pro would not load the golf courses and allow us to play.

Needless to say it was a frustrating evening considering all the so called "great new updates" it is still a $700 dud that refuses to stay connected. It regularly kicks you out of a sim session with a disconnect.

In contract, last winter alone, we played weekly 9 or 18 hole matches on the Skytrak+ with the worst thing being a few missed shots.

As a medical device developer that has to talk to lots of various devices over networks and USB I am simply shocked that Rapsodo cannot keep connected to their own stupid device.

So it will be relegated to a simple practice tool at my hitting net. Such a huge disappointment.

    HI

    Yes its sad.

I just received an email from Rapsodo offering a lifetime premium membership for an extra $499.
I am still waiting for the mlm2pro to reach a working point where I can use the free 1 year it came with 2 years ago.

Instead of giving Rapsodo another $499 I'll get a square golf monitor replacement.

Has anyone else received this emailed offer from Rapsodo?

      Hi everyone

My mlm2pro with I have only used 3 times now doesn't turn on or charge.

Just get a flashing yellow light.

This thing is a real joke. We'll see what rapsodo says.

If its to costly to repair I'll crack it open and see if I can replace the battery myself.

      What a waste of money.

Had enough got a used gc2 cheap, happy days.

That stinks Happy. Keep us posted on what they do for you. How long have you had it? GC2 is a nice unit. I had one for years and loved it!!!

          HI Bubba

I've had the mlm2pro since it was first released.

Charged it up regularly while i was waiting for it to become useable and so that I could sell it down the line.

Just activated my premium 1 year membership in Jan 25, now the mlm2pro doesn't work anymore.

Got a used GC2 for 1K in great condition, older unit 1XXX serial number, but all the upgrades have been done (flash board N3 etc...).

Got a backup flash and IR Lens from Andy just in case, pretty happy now.

I thought skytrak was good, but since i've used the GC2 i'd never go back, then again I don't think GC2 was worth 6K or whatever it cost when first released.

The Garmin R10 is a solid well made little unit for the range/outside.

Mlm2pro is accurate but flimsy and cumbersome to use in my opinion.

I'll try a square LM next for fun.

        Quick update

Currently getting the run around between Rapsodo and the retailer.

Rapsodo told me to request a replacement unit from the retailer and the retailer has told me to get a replacement from rapsodo.

So that's where I'm at, at the moment, not very hopeful.

I'd be surprised if I got a replacement unit.

I expect them to start ignoring my emails, but we'll see.

          Final update

Rapsodo replaced my unit, very pleasantly surprised as I was out of warranty.

Slow process, took about 2 months to get my new unit.

Customer service was very helpful, so at the end of the day I give Rapsodo 5 stars.

The mlm2pro finally seems to be where it should be, works well, connects well, and finally easy to use.

Club data is a major bonus.
