I've had a few folks ask about using Almost or other limited flight balls with the Square unit. These balls may be an option for folks who have limited space and are not comfortable using recalls indoors given their space. Of course using real balls is the gold standard indoors. There is a good Youtube review using Square and Sci Core balls.

I decided to do a test with the Square launch monitor using Taylormade TP5 PIX vs regular Almost golf ball vs Almost golf ball with Square stickers from Just a Potimus. Just an FYI, the stickers were harder to stick on the Almost balls. They work smoothly with regular golf balls.
I tested sand wedge, 9I, 7I, hybrid and driver. All clubs had a reflective sticker to get club data. The focus was on ball data.
Findings:
Ball Direction : Ball direction (horizontal and vertical) were consistent and similair in all 3 balls.
Ball speed : Ball speed was definitely lower with the Almost balls by 15-25 percent.
Ball distance : As expected ball distance was consistently much lower with the Almost balls by 20-30%
Ball Spin : Total spin was lower with the Almost balls and Spin axis was not read with plain Almost balls. The Almost balls with the just a Potimus stickers do read the spin axis but the amount was exaggerated at times and inconsistent.
Conclusion:
Almost balls will read with the Square golf monitor but the speed, spin and distance will be definitely off as expected. Spin axis will require stickers or marking for the unit to measure spin axis. Calculate spin axis will be possible with a club sticker. One may be able to play a round with the Square and Almost balls with Sticker using the distance boost (I believe 10%).
