I just purchased a brand new laptop computer. i7 core processor, NVidia 940MX graphics card, 12 GB Ram, 1 TB hard drive, etc... Being that I meet or exceed all of the recommended requirements for TGC, why am I getting terrible performance. I get very choppy motion, and double or triple the time delay on with my skytrak. I read the thread on optimal TGC performance. I'm running the program on "low graphics quality" with limited in game features. I'm sure it's a computer problem, but I'm fairly computer savvy. Computer drivers are up to date. Any thoughts?

Take it back. You don't even meet Protee's minimum requirements with that graphics card. Let alone their recommended requirements of a 970 or 1060. There's a sticky in this forum for what is needed to run tgc great.Originally posted by Pooch View Post...Being that I meet or exceed all of the recommended requirements for TGC, why am I getting terrible performance?

My guess would be the video card. How much memory is dedicated to the video? What is the speed of the video card? Is your processor being overloaded? Open Task Manager look at the cpu useage. Is it 10% busy or closer to 90% busy. I just upgraded my system because my processor was 100% used. Made a huge difference is video and now is only 20% busy. If processor use is low then I would suspect video card or it's specs.

That's not a dedicated memory card. It doesn't meet requirements.Originally posted by Pooch View PostI just purchased a brand new laptop computer. i7 core processor, NVidia 940MX graphics card, 12 GB Ram, 1 TB hard drive, etc... Arg! Thanks everyone. When I went to buy a laptop, I mistakenly thought the recommended requirements were for a Nvidia 940, instead of 970. I really appreciate all of your feedback! Does anyone have a good recommendation for a pc laptop that has necessary specs at a good price? I would like TGC to run at high graphics capacity. Thanks again everyone!!
I have to say, I'm glad I installed a golf sim in my garage. This forum has been a tremendous help the whole way!

I recently did a lot of research on a laptop and went with an HP Omen, though with only the GTX 1050TI 4GB dedicated. Its not a 1060 but couldn't justify shelling out any more. As stated above a 1060 with 4GB, will run great but if you don’t have to have settings on high or like me have a tight ceiling on a budget the 1050TI is probably enough. The Laptop comes in next week so I'll know for sure.
There are a lot of new Laptops markers are putting the 10 series cards in now. Take a look at Dell, Asus, Acer and HP (Acer and Asus are not due to be out until the end of Feb). The Dell screen got really bad reviews unless you opt for the 4k screen which is why I went for the HP. If I had more to spend it would have been a Asus ROG series, Dell Alienware or MSI for sure! Someone recently put on a post they bought an MSI off Amazon for $1300 which is a good deal and a great machine. Anyways happy hunting after you return the current laptop.
