  • ProTee vs non ProTee courses

looking at the course list on TGC and notice for quite a few of the more famous courses there is one labeled "ProTee" and a few other not noting ProTee. Are the ProTee courses sim friendly or what is the difference?

The differences can vary. The big difference is that they are usually shorter than the non ProTee version. Sometimes the designers will widen the fairways or enlarge the greens. Some go as far as lessen the difficulty of the greens with less slope. Most of the time.... they are just shorter.

      That makes sense. Thank you!

You may also see different tee colors in the description...... In general Blacks or championship = tips, Blues= medium distance, whites = shorter distance.

When scouting the famous courses, also look at the number of plays. More plays generally means it is more accurate to the real life course. I think Pebble beach has great versions from 6000 to 6900 yards. And then a great course like Kapalua Plantation course only has 1 version at 7400 yards but it is dead on for accuracy. KPC Beta is the name of that one. IRL it plays fantastic from the middle tees.

I have been really impressed with the courses I have played, these designers are legit. I have been trying to design a local course near me and learning that it's not the easiest. Very impressed with TGC!
