  • TGC - Driving Range info

    Hi,

I just purchased a used GC2 and now deciding on what software to get. For now, I just want to work on my game on a Driving Range setting, but would like to play courses later on. My question is, does TGC have a Driving Range similar to FR1? Does it display yardage, club head speed, angle, spin, etc, after each shot? Does it keep a log of your hits during your practice session until you clear it? And lastly does it display and hold your shot traces from shot to shot like the FR1 does until you clear it?

    Thanks,

    Brandon Peck

Some yes some no. TGC is built off of a video game platform. FR1 is more built for sim use. As such, TGC lacks some features. One of them is multiple shot tracers. You can record data and retrieve all shot data from the cloud. You have ranges with targets and yardages. You can see a post shot analysis but it lacks club data.

Mthunt is a Super Member and sometimes posts above a novice understanding. My main concern was also range practice. After buying TGC, I am super satisfied with range ability on the software. TGC is great because anybody can create a course. Many members have created courses that are driving ranges with different targets. Just search for "driving range" and you will have many to chose from. The one I usually se was created by Mthunt.

I have both TGC and FR1 and I would say "it depends". As mthunt and Bill point out, there are plenty of ranges on TGC. For me, I like the FR1 range as it has much more data. You can just hit balls, or you do a fitting (with data) and there's even a special feature/function for gap analysis. Again, depends what you're looking for.

Thanks guys! Provided some great info here. I am still gathering pieces to complete my simulator. So I will keep TGC in mind.

I have both. I use Fr1 for practice and TGC for play. In my opinion Fr1 is as superior for practice as TGC is for sim play. If possible, get both.

I was thinking the same thing. Would be nice to get an all in one package! haha... As far as FR1, I imagine the PC requirements is not as high as TGC?

PC requirements are nowhere nere as high for FR1.
I can run it on my old work laptop.
