  • Suddenly won't read (skytrak) putt mid round

Mid round, on a green, and it won't pick up a putt. Tried 20 times. Putting mode on (and tried off, too). Turned skytrak off then back on, alt+tab out to reconnect it with TGC interface, then alt+tab back once reconnected. It gives me the red dot of "reading/analyzing" but then just back to all green with no shot registered.

Any tips? It'd be embarrassing if people were over and we were suddenly stopped mid round like this. Hasn't happened but once before and that responded to the off/on alt+tab thing.

    Thanks for any help!

I have seen this a couple of times on my ST. It seems to be only on short putts where the ball speed is very low (less than 8 feet or so). Usually, I need to hit a longer putt that necessary to get it to register and move on.

Interesting. This was a 34 foot putt with 4 inches uphill. An issue with a shorter one makes more sense as you describe. Thanks.

It's possible that something in the background is interfering with the camera. Anything white or shiny, or bright lights will confuse the skytrak. Could be the white on your shoes or pants too.

Also, if it works fine the rest of the time, then it might just simply of froze, or the cononection from the skytrak to the interface got stale. Happens to me about once a round, all I do is turn off the skytrak, so it then disconnects from the interface, then turn it back on and reconnect. Takes a bout a minute and works great after that.

Agreed. I think it just froze. Same shoes, socks, putter, matt, lighting, ball.

The weird thing was that it didn't work after doing the same disconnect-reconnect thing you described twice. Restarted the computer, and hopefully it'll be okay.

I have NOT updated the skytrak software to the most recent version, because it sounds like people have been having more non-reads with the new software, but maybe I'll try it to see if this happens to be one of the bugs it fixes.

I have updated to the latest software and haven't had any issues myself. The only other possible suggestion i might have is, to make sure that when you turn the skytrak off, do so for at least 20 seconds. Other than that, if keeps happening, it may be a hardware issue with your particular unit.

Thanks. I didn't wait 20 seconds. Will try next time.
