Streaming TCG from PC to Laptop/Surface Pro in Garage

I'm new to both TGC and Steam and had no idea you could stream games from one computer to another until I ran across an older thread here on this forum...Unfortunately, I was unable to get it to work and was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction...I've got a desktop in my basement with TGC and a laptop (or ideally a Surface Pro 3, but there's probably other issues with that) I'd like to stream it to in my garage. I've installed Steam on both computers, enabled Home Streaming and installed the GSX, Protee and TGC as non-steam games on my Steam account. When I open steam on the laptop I'm trying to stream too,click on "play" for the GSX interface, it opens and appears to work fine. When I click on both the ProTee Golf Interface and The Golf Club Simulator, all I get is a blank screen on the laptop. Both programs open on the desktop down in the basement.

I have similar issues doing this with Skytrak and TGC.

For some reason, TGC started doing 2 things differently, that make the startup process a pain:

1) The TGC options window that pops up first, to select resolution is no longer recognized by steam streaming. So when that pops up I have to go into the host computer and click OK

2) Then when TGC itself finally launches (which takes forever), it has been starting minimized. This makes it also not get picked up by Steam Streaming. So I have to click the window to make it appear

Once that is done, it streams.

But this is how I play it, works OK and picture quality is good. Once its up and running, I usually have no problems, but getitng it started is a pain.

You only need steam link if you are connecting directly to your projector / TV. Since you have a Surface Book Pro as your client machine, no need for steam link hardware. But the Steam Link does go on sale for $30 quite often, if you dont want to have to rely on your Surface.

I would guess your Surface Pro 3 is more powerful than the Steam Link hardware. All the client machine is doing is decoding the video stream. It doesnt need to be very powerful.

Shardak is right on this. Thought you were connecting to a TV/projector.
Other possibility is resolution mismatch from the main computer to the computer in the garage.

Thanks...Do you happen to know, are there any settings you need setup, to get the data from the GC2 to the program? I haven’t gotten that far yet and wasn’t sure how the sofware on the host computer would get the data from the client computer?

Just to clarify, here’s the hardware/setup I’ve got:
-Gaming computer with TGC software down in the basement.
-surface pro 3 or laptop in the garage streaming from the downstairs computer and will have the GC2 connect to it? I haven’t gotten this far yet and wasn’t sure how the data got from the GC2 to the software?
-Connection to a projector from the surface pro/laptop.

I dont have a gc2 , but I think your problem is with having the GC2 connect to the client PC. It would need to connect to the host PC running TGC.

Not sure what options you have for GC2, but with skytrak I have it connected to the home LAN via wifi, so my gaming PC that runs TGC (which is in the office), can talk to the Skytrak in the garage.

You will need to do something similar with GC2..does it have Wifi connectivity?

That makes sense...I didn't realize you could connect the Skytrack via wifi...I'm not sure that will work with a GC2...I normally have it connected to via bluetooth for TGC...Not sure on the range, but I doubt it could see it from the basement...

post revival.... you ever get this figured out? i wanna make sure it works before i jump on a GC2

No, I couldn’t get a Bluetooth signal from my garage to my basement. I ended up just putting a desktop in my garage.
