Sorry if this has already been posted, but I've just started using TGC on my Skytrak simulator and I'm a little confused about yardages when elevation is involved. I've attached a picture showing a tee shot on a par 3 and there are three different yardages provided. Can someone please help explain which yardage I should be following? Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

The only one you care about is the one in the middle. The top right is related to the club, if you changed it to a 9 iron it would be less. It's helpful only when using the scout cam. If you are just off the green and want to putt, you must change it to putter or it won't read correctly. That is the only time paying attention to the top right corner is needed.

Awesome thanks! Just as a follow up, do I need to perform some sort of mental math to factor in the (-9) elevation change? Or does the 152 yard distance already factor that in?Originally posted by wbond View PostThe only one you care about is the one in the middle. EDIT: never mind, thanks Colin!

You have to do the math each time you have significant elevation change.
A few feet won't really count as it might be within your margin of error (unless you are a real pro).
Most irons shot lead to landing angle close to 45° (a bit higher for wedges): that means you have to play 1 yard shorter for each 3 feet of downward elevation (same rule as @colinjm18).
It becomes tricky when you have significant elevation change (like 30+ feet) as landing angle (and resulting roll depending on spin) may be harder to anticipate/calculate especially with wind. That is the charm of some famous par-3 (like Pebble Beach 7th hole)!
