  • TGC Stone Canyon KCMO

A message for all TGC users. Especially to the ones in the KCMO area, but all are welcome to play and critique. I just published my first course (excited /nervous). It is Stone Canyon ( a Greg Norman designed course). I would like any critiques you may have. I designed mainly out of memory and a lot of Google Earth. So if there are any simulator people with more knowledge of the course please feel free to let me know about any changes that maybe needed. I.E- green slopes, trees to be deleted or added, tee box locations, elevations or whatever. All constructive criticism will be very much appreciated. I would also say that you might want to think about not putting. I wanted a natural feel for approach shots to greens. Like most simulator software putting leaves much to be desired but I wanted a somewhat realistic feel for the ball landing on the greens like the course has in real life. Like I said this is my first attempt at a “local” course. It is listed as Stone Canyon (KCMO) Beta1. Thanks in advance!!!

I’ll try it out, I play there a few times a year so I have some knowledge of the course. I’ve been working on my home course, Adams pointe, I’ll let you know when I Finnish a playable version. Thanks for all your work I know it’s time consuming, maybe I can check it out this weekend.

golfinaddicts thanks! That would be great! Like I said it was mainly off memory. I do have a tournament there in March and that course always just kills me. 😜 That’s why I designed it. I was thinking about Adams Pointe the other day. I am not sure which course I will do next. I keep thinking Swope but that will be hard. Please let me know what you think of Stone Canyon. You won’t hurt my feelings and you can as specific as you want. Thanks again!

Just got done and I must say you did a really good job. I want to play it a few more times before I give you feedback but as of now really my only thing is you just don’t get a sense of some of the elevation changes on like 4 holes the tee boxes could be a little more elevated. The first par3 on the back nine I always like to tee off from up top too lol.

Yes I thought about that par 3. Every time I play, that tee box is closed. Lol. I will try and add it. Once I feel comfortable about the overall design I will add other tee boxes. Thanks for the feedback so far!! Please keep it coming. It is hard to get that feeling of elevation but let me know where you think changes need to be made and I will make them. Then I will release Beta 2. Also let me know if the greens need tweaking. Thanks again and let me know how Adams Pointe is going. I think I might start on Swope but it will take me a while on that course.

I just joined, set up my room in my basement with a SkyTrak and loving the programs. I’d love to have someone create my home club. Is designing tough?

Yes. To break out of bad, and beyond even mediocrity, yes. Many here have a long deep sigh about wanting their home course. Depends on your commitment. But
help may be on the way. Check out chadgolf's new tool here in forum to expedite creation. It's only for 2019 I think though

Winamy for me there was a definite learning curve but once I got the hang of it it became a lot easier. There some videos on Utube that helped. Look at crazycanucks videos. You can always PM me with any questions as well. Just play around at first and figure out the brushes. Happy designing!

I have never played this course in real life but I enjoyed playing your sim version. I would like to learn how to design courses and create my home course. Maybe if I get the TGC2019 it would be easier they seem to have a lot sim building apps and help.

Pharmer Ron thanks! It was really fun. Once I figured it out. I am going to design some more Kansas City courses but I am waiting for the new version of TGC to come out.
