Boy what a deal probably 95% of TGC courses are designed by users for free and TGC then charges $500 for a full license for R Motion even more for Skytrac. Wish I had a business like that.

My guess is the hardware company(rapsodo/skygolf) get a piece of the TGC price. I'd like to know the breakdown.

Would you prefer they took away the course designer and then charged $$$ to buy new courses? Unfortunately the sim market is relatively small they gotta make money some how.

The course designer is the best thing TGC has going for it. There's a lot of crap courses, but just stick to the higher rated ones and you'll be fine. There's some things that annoy me with a few of the higher rated courses, for example oakmont cc lidar is highly rated but is missing key out of bounds and other things, but in general the courses that are highly rated are very good.

Also the HB courses are for the most part very good as well.

Except ProTee has to license the software from HB studios, pay for developments and provide support to user and a free tour. There's no business in the sim world where people are rolling in money. Not sure why you assume this one is.

What Developement are users doing? Are you saying people creating courses is developing the software?

You know what he’s trying to say... of the 100,000+ courses they advertise to get more players, what percentage of that is done by users? 95%? Maybe higher?

The content of the video game is almost exclusively done through the course designer by users.

A serious case study to examine is Blizzard Entertainment and Warcraft III intellectual property rights. Exact same deal with respect to user-made content. As of January 2020, Blizzard own all content made by custom map makers.

Course development is a completely different thing, Protee doesn't charge for courses. They are free.

Protee does charge for the software ( licensing, development and support). About $1k. Cheaper than their main competitors.

The r motion is sold at a discount. Justified by the lower cost of limited support, development and licensing of an offline only version plus the hope of future sales.

Could Protee do the full tgc for $500 and still be a viable company? Maybe, but I doubt it. It's a small niche market.

Instead of complaining about the high price of the full software, be happy r motion is so cheap.
