  • IRL Yardage vs. TGC Yardage

    Hello,

I recently got set up with the Rmotion and TGC and am wondering if there is a way to adjust the stock yardages for each club. For example, TGC shows a 6 iron carry of 165 yards and it will consistently fly as such in the sim. However, a pure 6 iron should fly 190 yards for me. Is there any way to adjust the Rmotion or TGC to change these numbers?

You can't change them, but they have no effect on the game either. I'm not familiar with Rmotion, but for all the other systems the yardages are calculated from the data provided by the hardware (in my case a CG2 Launch Monitor)

Not sure if this applies or not but I found it interesting... I ran ignite (Uneekor) simultaneously with TGC (on the Range). On almost every shot (regardless of the club) Ignite read the total yardage to be within a couple of yards of the Carry on the TGC range. Roll out seemed significantly short in ignite while I think it's somewhat long in TGC. With longer clubs, I found a difference of 20-30 yards. I guess the point is it all has to do with the algorithms for each program. Also, 195 yards is pretty damn good carry for a 6 iron, but I"m not jealous...much.

I tried playing around by hitting my 6 iron as the “4 iron” in TGC but I started getting really weird readings that I know are not accurate. Tried hitting driver and it capped at the ~265 range that TGC shows as driver yardage which is well off the mark as well. Very unfortunate if there is no way to tune it.

Thanks for the input mike, just remember the bigger the carry the bigger the miss can be, nothing to be jealous of

That's really interesting.. It shouldn't matter at all what club you hit despite what the club recommendation is from TGC. I don't hit as far as you but I did watch Beau and Coz play a match where both of them were hitting near (or over) the 300 yard mark. I wonder if R-motion is the issue. If I recall, R-Motion is not necessarily a Launch Monitor. Are you using it with SkyTrak?

R Motion needs to know what club you’re hitting so if you choose 4 and hit a 6 the shot will ga farther than if you select 6 iron. Only R Motion and floor sensors are like this.

I see... so R-Motion is integrated with TGC. I did not realize that. Thanks for the clarification.

Unfortunately not, SkyTrak is a little beyond the budget for me. Presuming it’s something to do with the way the R-motion is programmed.

Do you need to make any other adjustments to make sure you get the best possible reading? For instance, setting up the 4 iron in the R-motion program with the loft and length of my 6 iron?

I have an R Motion but it wasn’t accurate. I have no idea how to adjust.

If you go into the r-motion settings you will see your screen name which has your clubs. What you can do is change the length/loft of the the respective clubs to more align with your IRL distances. You can also change 3 iron to hybrid as well. I essentially went to the range and alt tab between that and the r-motion interface and adjusted the lofts/lengths until i got it close to my IRL. You only have to do this once as it saves your preferences, as was mentioned above, you have to choose the right club as it uses the r-motion club settings to determine how far the ball will go. For example, if you had a driver selected in the game but actually hit a 7 iron it would go the driver distance.
