  • TGC vs TGC 2019

Is it worth it to still get the original TGC? the last part of my setup needed is a simulator software. I have skytrak. Im just not sure I want to spend 900. the 500 dollar price tag of the original tgc sounds better.

So would sticking with TGC be a good idea?

If money is an issue, TGC will do you fine. It’s great software. The biggest difference are the courses. Many more in TGC 2019 and they have multiple tees.

If you are not an amazing golfer(i'm a 20+ handicap that still loves the game and wants to play as much as humanly possible), tgc2019 is SO much better for the multiple tees for the average golfer. finding the "whites" on tgc can be a chore.

The physics imo are better in the original TGC. Everything else is better in 2019

TGC 2019 is much better. Multiple tees, charge course condition, wind, green speed and softness. Lets you play at your level.

I agree !00% with mthunt However, I have never owned TGC. I am a recent purchaser of TGC 2019 and I'm loving it with my new build although it is more expensive than any software than I have ever purchased. Ugh! Also, if you don't like TGC 2019, you could resell it for most likely, imo, at much less of a % loss than TGC..?!?? Not many people on here looking for TGC...but I see posts of people often looking for a 2019 transfer for sale...ready to buy..

There are a ton of nice courses in 2019, multiple tee boxes are great, being able to adjust green softness and speed, wind etc. is a treat.. There are a couple of weird glitches in 2019 and several of the hot keys don't work or work poorly that were very useful in TGC. It's been a year since 2019's launch and they haven't fixed any of the bugs so I'm not sure they're ever going to get them fixed. I'm very disappointed because with a few small fixes 2019 would be a peach instead of kind of irritating.
But... the physics and game play in TGC are better. There are searchable spread sheets for TGC available to find courses that match your distances.
I have both and play both but as far as straight game play goes I prefer TGC. And some of the courses that are too long for me, (designed for and by the console/mouse golfers) in TGC I just bump up my driver and play the rest of the clubs regularly. You get around 6500-7000 yards and this old dog can't cut it but bump the driver up 10-15% and I can have a bunch of fun with them. (bumping clubs in online competitive play is a no no BTW)

I use R Motion and the full version of TGC would be great but I have a problem paying $500 for outdated software. I would consider it for $200-250 but $500 for software that will never be update is too much. If I went the full route to Skytrac I would go the extra mile for full version of TGC 2019.
