I have been using TGC for about a week now. I am slowly learning and getting used to the TGC environment. I see why people like it so much and I do too. But I still use my FR+1 (GC2), because it is that good and it already has many of the TGC wants. Some of my initial thoughts are as follows:
TGC vs ProTee courses - I expect TGC's vast course offerings and better graphics will cause TGC to occupy most of my play time. For practice, I will go back to FR+1.
Minimap - There is already a minimap showing the course layout.(did not know this) I wonder what could be holding up making it fully functional? Meanwhile, learning to aim without it is not as terrible as I initially thought. I can see why multiple tee boxes is a higher priority for many. But I still prefer to have the aiming functionality put in. That will surely speed up game play.
Putting - I do not enjoy putting on simulators. I only have two problems with it, speed and direction. Haha! Also, TGC's flowing dots on grid are not always clear to see if from a bit of distance. Q-mode gets me close but not always where I can observe all the relevant dots. (maybe I have not found it yet) Putting experience improved dramatically after I found gimme (with settable distance) in game control. (GSX putting parameter still needs to be figured)
Ball Spins - maybe it's just me but I get a lot of lower back spins and higher side spins shots that I did not observe on FR+1 nor on a real golf course. Even with seemingly good hits, the side spins seem more pronounced than what I expect. I suspect TGC's big aiming bracket maybe causing me to finish towards it. Like I said, most possibly it is just me. But if there is some parameter adjustment I should consider, please kindly let me know and thanks in advance. Definitely still figuring this one out.
Long courses - fortunately there are many white tee and blue tee courses when I put ProTee in the course search.
Narrow fairway - only tried a few so far. Magnolia National looks wide and beautiful, some are so narrow they do not look like golf courses in real life. Narrow fairway is hard to hit coupled with my extra TGC side spins.
Shot analysis - I like to be able to call back the shot analysis window whenever I want.
Shot penalty - better than FR+1, simply more realistic.
Setup - definitely much more tedious
Bluetooth - My PC asks if a 6 digit code is displayed on GC2. I just pick yes and it goes to pair. Windows update causes Bluetooth to acting weird, otherwise pairing is automatic.
Conclusion: still getting used to it but I like it a lot.
