TGC v. FSX Late 2015 Edition

Let me start by saying, to the creators of TGC: "Thank you for making me double my sim budget." Your software looks so good that I instantaneously up sold myself from my original plans.

So my plan was to get both TGC and FSX using TGC as a sim and FSX as a practice area but after seeing rdh 's range I wonder if FSX is even worth getting. I would never use FSX for the sim software because it would be like cheating on Jennifer Lawrence with Gary Busey.

Is there any reason to buy FSX if TGC has these user developed ranges? Are there any enhancements in the works for the range (I.e multiple tracers staying)?

Range enhancements including multiple tracers, statistics etc will be coming but you need to be patient. Can you but the FSX base pack with only 1 course? That would be cheaper and allow you to practice only. Then use TGC for course play. What is the FSX base worth?

The rep said around 8k all in gc2 w base FSX. I'd rather not pay an extra 1.3k if TGC is coming out with more range features.

I see. Your buying a new GC2. You could ge a used one and save 3k. The money you save can justify buying the FSX base. If your not into used then get the new GC2 and TGC.

The issue I see buying used is that the only reputable place I've seen selling them is 2nd swing and their units lack working Bluetooth and batteries.

Is there somewhere else I should look? Because I would prefer to not spend that much money if I do not need to.

eBay. Other option is wait for the ES16. It will com with a very, very nice range and will be TGC integrated. I hope to be testing in the next month.

Do you know how long until the release? Estimated, I understand it is not set in stone yet.

It will be released in the PGA show in Jan. Ernest sports ha been good to actually release a complete unit over th years with ES12 (2012), ES14 (2014), ES15(2015) and now ........ you guessed it, ES16 (2016). Buy the GC2 and move on with life. You only live once. It's ready to go. Look at the Skytrak guys. I think it was being beta tested 2 years ago. IMO, TGC is all you need. The new features you want will be out before the ES16 and in the meantime you can hit balls and see all shot data. There's just no multiple tracers and not stats on a practice session. I don't find it to be a problem.

It's funny Bubba, all of the features everyone talks about are still in Protee and haven't turned it on once since auto rewind came out.

I agree with you though, gc2 is probably going to be the safest choice for what I want.

Bubba had the skytrak like 2 years ago. I tested it then bought the GC2 the next day. Not that's it's bad but it wasn't ready or as good as the gc2. Reading the the posts by the skytrak guys I'm glad I did. I can honestly say, I couldn't be more satisfied with the GC2 and TGC. In fact, my coach came over to my house and bought the GC2 and TGC as well.

yeah it seems like it is the only setup for limited space that is reliable. I would hate to wait, buy something then have it not work like the ST guys are (justifiably) complaining about.

You can't go wrong with GC2 and TGC. A new one will bring you at $7500 with TGC. Obviously a used on at $3500 will save you a bunch. I am confident tha ES16 will be a hit once released and at est $4000 it will be cost neutral to a used GC2. So if you find a used GC2 then do it. If you can't wait and can afford a new one then go fo it.
