Offline / customizing courses request

I logged this request on the HB forum because it's a bigger fundamental change than they'll make for the simulator edition specifically. Please take a look and add a comment on that forum if this is something you'd like. It would be a way for us to download courses locally to tweak them for simulator play and then share the files. I'm tired of bugging designers to modify their courses to fit my needs.

Some of those designers take their courses pretty seriously. I can see them taking issue with someone changing their design.

I understand that...but no one is challenging anything. If it's limited to the local pc so no one else ever sees it, that sucks if anyone still has a problem with it. Forget the part about sharing files and id still love this capability.

What if designers could choose to make their designs open source or locked?

I would think just adding tee box functions would take care of this no?

Or you want to take trees out and make greens flatter...etc?

I read somewhere that the way the game is designed, there will never be the ability to have separate tees, only one tee per design.

That's right - i'd like to flatten greens or whatever. Plus, even once multiple tees in a course definition are supported, you're still out of luck if the designer didn't create a set of tees that fits the length you're comfortable with.

I don't see the risk here if courses that are copied locally can only be used that way and not published for others to see them. I'd give my left arm for this capability.

True, they'd have to accommodate all different lengths by chance or...I would think the experienced designers know that golf courses are usually 5500 to 7200 yards, and therefore setup maybe 3-4 tees at 5500, 6100, 6600, and 7200 or somewhere around there.

Maybe force 4 tee boxes and only allow grades on greens <4%, like real greens. Then all is right and they can go on and create their courses for whatever platform.
