  • Putting setup advice needed

    TGC / Skytrak user.

Skytrak laser dot is 6 feet from my impact screen.

I hit on a CCE mat. The remaining distance between my screen and hitting area is a monster tee mat. These mats roll very slow.

I place a hole cutout on my mat to aim my putts at, it is 6 feet from my hitting location. Directly on center line, at the impact screen. If I set TGC to stimp = 6, a 6 foot putt in TGC is about equal to a 6 foot putt on my mats.

But these mats are slow, and 6 stimp feels too slow. My local course probably rolls 8+ I would guess.

If I change stimp to 7, a 6 foot putt travels about 8 feet in TGC. But now i am putting a 6 foot putt that rolls 8 in the game, is that gonna mess me up on the course?!

What is the best solution? Set TGC stimp to match my hitting mats? Or set TGC stimp higher, so a 6 foot putt on my mats rolls 8-10 feet in TGC?

My main concern is having this setup in a way that totally messes me up on the course in real life!

I wish I had a long hitting mat that felt good (CCE is OK), and had a decent 8+ stimp for putting. Does such a thing exist?

Switching up to use a thinner, quicker rolling mat in front of the CCE would maybe be the best thing. But with those options you listed i would personally go with the stimp 6. Seeing a putt roll 6 feet in front of me and then 8ft in the game would annoy me after a while. Ultimately though, it probably wouldn't effect you too much on the course either way as the length of your stroke for certain distances is going to be something you slightly get used to every time you get out on the course for the first hole or two (or the practice green). Some days greens can be wet, dry, soft, hard, fresh cut, etc and slightly change the distances. So i think youll be able to adapt fine after a a few holes on the course no matter what you chose on the sim at home
