  • Graphics Card

Recommended is the GeForce GTX 970. Looking at a computer that has a GeForce GTX 1060 card. I know nothing about computers but assuming this would be fine? Any recommendations or feedback about any graphics cards to stay away from?

No, two different things there. 16GB is your system memory. 6GB is onboard video card memory. TGC is not very hard on memory or the CPU. It is however extremely hard on the video card. GTX 1060 6GB or above in IMO will give a great experience.

So I have a gtx 730. It's ok but if I try high graphics mode it crashes. Would it solve this if I get the above mentioned? Medium is still pretty decent graphics. I do t want to invest that coin unless I'm sure I will see a noticeable benefit. My rig is playable but could be better. The response time and following on shots is ok.

Is that the one for 5-600? Is there a good place to get a good deal on one? Looks like the 3 gb is half the price but sounds like it's worth It?

Glad to hear it's working out well for you. I built a computer for my old man using this exact graphics card so I would be very surprised if it doesn't offer smooth gameplay like it's supposed to.

Being a total laymen on computers I've read a number of these threads that suggest components that work best with TGC. Is there a way to combine this information and turn it into something to follow with a link to a system that could be purchased ? I know everyone has an option as to what works best but it seems like most agree on most components. Am I asking an unanswerable question ? Seems like this could be a stickie.

I would bookmark the typical internet deal sites like slickdeals or techbargains. Enter desktop in the searchbar and look for the most popular threads since it usually is a better deal. Graphics card is the most important factor for running tgc smoothly. Nvidia and AMD are the 2 major companies that make gaming video cards. For Nvidia, look for GTX 1060, 1070, or 1080 under the specs. For AMD, RX 470 or 480 would work.

If you plan to play TCG on a 1080P TV or projector GTX 1060 or RX 470 will do. If you have a 4k TV or projector then GTX 1070, 1080 or RX 480.

CPU power at this point doesn't matter much for the golf club or most other computer games. If all you are doing is basic home computer use with the occasional computer game I would save the money and go with an I5. Unless you are into overclocking then cooling and power won't really matter that much. The current generation video cards use a lot less power and generate a lot less heat compared to video cards 2 years ago especially AMD. NVidia has always had power efficient GPUs.

If you want to buy components yourself and build your own PC then I suggest using https://pcpartpicker.com/

You select the components you want and the site provides prices from all of the big web stores

Just select your region in the top right hand side and it will give you prices in your region.

I have put together an example PC that should run TGC at high settings
                        US - https://pcpartpicker.com/list/8YgFHN
                        UK - https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/ydD7yf

These are just examples so feel free to adjust according to your needs

I work for a computer games company and I spec and build PC's on a daily basis so if anybody wants any advice on any PC requirements drop me a PM as I am more than happy to help,

Just buy all the parts listed under "The End All" here: https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/wiki/builds

It'll destroy similar spec'd PC's from stores that are pre-built, and will handle TGC "swimmingly".

I basically have the end all build, with an upgraded gtx 1070 instead of the ATI card. 60+ fps in TGC.
