I'm not sure if I should ask this on hb studio site but we have some good designers here. My home computer has 16 gb ram and an i5 processor. When I click to place an object or raise/lower ground it takes about 5-10 seconds, is this normal. If not, any idea what I can add to help? It just has the cheap factory graphics card but don't know if that plays into just designing. Also one click on my mouse wheel raises and lowers ground quite a bit if I have the brush at any reasonable area such as 20 yards. Is there anything I can do about that? Different mouse? Computer settings? Thanks.

The GPU (graphics card) does almost all of the work. That's everything visually, and the designer is no different, including the physics, math and logic of the software.
So it's almost to say that the CPU almost doesn't matter. It does, but the GPU is the main driving force for the smoothness of the entire software package.
This is true for most visually intensive games/software.

First issue is your graphic card. Second issue the amount the mouse wheel does depends how zoomed in or out you are.My Courses:
