  • A Real Canadian golf course "Angus Glen South GC Lidar" is available

I just published a new real Canadian golf course with accurate Lidar data and OpenStreetmap spline. The course's name is Angus Glen South GC Lindar.
At the first day, I created a raw course with Chad's tool, it took me one whole day.
At the second day, I decorated the raw course, added water, flatten tee box, added more tee colors and Pin positions, added plants stones, animals, flowers, and so on.
At the third day, I test and debug it with my wife, I played it within TGC 2019 Game version for 3 rounds, and then use real club and ball to play with my wife for couple rounds, the found bugs and fixed them.
Today is the fourth day, I announce this new real Canadian Course. ✌😃
This shows that it takes at lease 4 full days to build a new real sim Golf course.

    Sim Couse Specification:
Course Elevation resolution: 0.5m (Lidar data from Land Information Ontario)
Course shape and layout accuracy: 90% (using the OpenStreetmap to spline everything)
Course flyover video URL: Coming so.
Course Name in TGC 2019 and PGA 2K21:Angus Glen South GC Lidar Vn (Vn stand for version number, eg: V1, V2 ...)

Thanks, most seem to consider South better than North.

What does elevation .5 metres mean? Is that how accurate elevations are to real like, within .5 metres?

The elevation data comes from LIO (Land Information Ontario), the data resolution is 0.5 meter.

First your masked plot is just left alone so there is a cliff at the edge of the mask. It's intended that you fix that. It's easy. Simply use landscape raise (red brush) to raise that landscape to match the rest of the course. Red brushes have no effect on the lidar area. Imagine a wayward drive going over a hundred foot cliff with no way to get it in play. When the ball is in the air it stands out like a sore thumb.

Also, the lidar creates super bad edges on the water. They look horrible. They need to be fixed. Fix them by using a fuzzy blue brush. I recommend instead of rushing these out and adding new versions you take your time a little and get used to using the designer. Here's two pics. One of the lidar course I did helping Chad with his tool creation and #1 on Angus.

I also suggest you add heavy rough. Angus is pretty green off the fairway.

I know I'm being a little harsh but these courses are great in real life and a little more finer touches will ensure people enjoy them. The courses that have 2000 to 20000 plays are refined and the designers take 50-100 or more hours refining them.

Hi Mthunt, These are really good suggestions. I will try them. I am a really new course designer, just for 2 week long. If I encounter any problem, I will ask you again.

mthunt I found one thing on your screenshot. The water hazard in the mini map is green. It looks like the grass terrain at the bottom of the lake. If people only check the mini map, they may not notice that lake.

If you look at the rest of the pic you’ll notice the grass goes right down into the water. It’s a designer trick you do by adding a second layer of water below the first layer. This was the first time I did it and now I make sure the bottom is lower. These are pretty advanced moves in the designer.
