  • Sodus Bay Heights (Lidar) - Sodus Point, NY

Sodus Bay Heights Golf Course is a premier golf course located between Rochester and Syracuse, New York overlooking beautiful Sodus Bay on the shores of Lake Ontario.

Sodus Bay Heights is a course that is grounded in a rich golf history. Robert Trent Jones started his legendary career as the course’s first professional in the mid-1920’s and went on to build & design hundreds of golf courses around the world.

With four sets of tee boxes, this LIDAR recreated course offers large smooth rolling challenging greens, scenic vistas, undulating fairways and demanding shot selections.

This is my first course, your feedback is welcomed. Hope you enjoy the challenge.

Fantastic!!! Thank you, I'll be playing it very soon... love the 5 different tees. Just curious how long the process took, and what you found most challenging? Which theme did you choose and why? Did you use Chad's tool to pull in LiDAR?

I had shoulder surgery in Jan. so I spent most of Jan and Feb. working on the design. Yes, I used Lidar data, openstreetmap, and Chad's tool. The 2 most challenging issues were learning the user interface and placing the water. I "seamed" the water under a couple of bridges and covered in the seams in rocks and plants. BTW, I posted a second version of Sodus. My doc has allowed me to gently swing one handed all along. So,I moved all the tees to with about 75 yards of the greens. (I forgot to change the par for holes).Moving the tees has allowed me to play the "course" as well.

Thank you so much for Sodus Bay Heights.
Living in the finger lakes area, this is one of my favorite courses. Great memories - especially the 4th hole.
You have done a remarkable job in recreating this track.
The details and elevations are fantastic.
I would recommend that everyone give this course a shot.

Thanks for the kind words. The real credit goes to all those that have taken the time effort to provide the knowledge and resources to do it.
