  • Almost/Sci-Core Golf Ball correction

    Hi guys,

I've got a really good feeling that I'm not the only one in this situation.

I recently got a SkyTrak and got TGC19. I upgraded from R-Motion. R-motion was great because I could play the tournaments and use my Almost and Sci-Core golf balls without fear of lost yardages and breaking a window.

I've got a new room I just built, but it doubles as a new family room, so I can't have a permanent setup that would allow me to hit real balls without fear. My wife won't let me do it in the new room.

I've noticed that I'm losing 30-40 yards on drives (even with boost up to 5% in settings (roughly 20% - I average around 290 with drives and only getting 220 total). Woods are about 15% loss and irons are around 8% or so loss. Wedges are a little closer, but still a loss.

I have no problem using the boost to update this and correct it, but I guess my question is if there's anyway from the admins to allow the added boost for these types of balls to tournament play.

I know there have to be hundreds or thousands of guys that would play in more tournaments if there was a way to make this work.

Is it possible to add a setting or an option in the settings that would indicate use of an Almost or Sci-Core ball so that we can truly represent our true yards on this? Obviously if someone is hitting a drive 400 yards, it's questionable, which is why we have shot recording on, correct?

Hoping the admins can figure this out.

mthunt Would you have any insight on how we could get this done?

What are you using? Skytrak or rmotion? Why can’t you use regular balls?

mthunt I’m using the SkyTrak now. I can’t utilize real balls because the only place I have to setup my net is in front of the glass doors and the wife is worried any shot that misses the net is going to break the windows or door. And a permanent screen/net setup isn’t possible. I know I’m not the only one that has brought this up browsing through the forum.

I know I saw at one point a while back there was a setting to indicate you were using a practice style ball that added in a coefficient.

Obviously if I used the boost settings, I could get my numbers dialed in properly, but then tournament play I’d be DQ’d.

What if there were a check button or option in settings that allowed for these types of balls and would allow for additional boost settings, or if we used a standard number with these percentages?

id be happy to give you a study on my numbers that would equate to a realistic result.

i know enough about my game and teach, as well as have a YouTube channel, so it would be viable and honest.

What do you think it would take to play with those almost balls?

So I specifically used the TGC2019 range last night to get the numbers and hit hundreds of balls to play with the settings to get them right. Irons and wedges fall within the guidelines at 3 each. Driver and woods are where the lack of a solid core truly hurt. Driver has to be set to 14 to get accurate distances (I averaged 282 during the session once the boost was at 14, and I average 285 in real life). Woods are set to 12 boost (I get about 260 in real life and was about 255 in the sim with the boost. A 13 boost was pushing 270+ avg which isn’t a realistic average. Not saying I can’t do it in real life, but I want as realistic as possible.)

I’ve asked a few other guys in a FB group to test these settings as well to see if it’s across the board.
