  • Using reshade is a must for TGC 2019

I've been playing TGC 2019 with my Mevo+ for past 2 months, and one of the first things I did when I got it was enable reshade to improve sharpness, contrast, and colors even before I even launched the game for the first time lol. Recently, I has to reinstall Windows and thus TGC 2019, and played it without reshade enabled. And wow, I didn't even realize how bad TGC 2019 looked without reshade!

So I strongly suggest everyone to use reshade with TGC2019 as it makes the game look so much better. There are few youtube tutorials on how to install. e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjf4dSSIG8c But I recommend you to select all the effect packages that are unchecked by default to get more of the effects than the default.

I personally enable the following to get a far more detailed and crisp/sharp image (to a point where it looks nearly grainy on a monitor). The perceived detail is much higher as a result, and you'll realize how blurry and mushy the original graphics were even at maximum graphic settings in TGC 2019.

    - SharpContrast (extra fine sharpening)
    - Levels (adds more pop. but I lowered black point & increased white point to not lose as much detail)
    - AdaptiveSharpen (adds slight sharpening)
    - Filmic Anamorphic Sharpen (this makes the image significantly sharper)
    - Colourfulness (makes the colors pop bit more against my 3 layer impact screen which bleeds a bit)

Then it can look like this: (photo doesn't do it justice) I'll try to post a before/after photo later when I get a chance.

There are many other effects you can certainly give a try as better graphics is subjective. e.g. some suggest HDR bu it just boosts contrast too much and you end up losing highlight and shadow details. But yeah, might look better on some other impact screens who knows.

Great post. Thanks for this. Tried it and while I didn’t have the same options as you did, and a couple of the ones you suggested. It is still a nice upgrade and looks great!

Just installed it myself and was well worth the 5 minute setup. I set mine to launch program with the keyboard home button and to toggle the app on and off with shift f3. Using the shift f3 really let’s you see a quick before and after of the changes. I always felt tgc felt a bit washed out color wise and now things pop and the sharpness of the effects is soooo much nicer.

How did you set it up to toggle like that using shift F3?

I used all the settings above except the filmic amorphic as it made things super grainy for me.

Thanks Aussie Benny! My setup with an Optoma 1080GTR HD projector looks much improved with reshape! Now it will be more scenic when hitting from the rough ;-)

Hit home in tgc to bring up the settings, on the top tabs select the settings tab, second line down says toggle effect key, click on that line and press the keyboard button you want to use. Having to go back in to check for you I changed mine from shift f3 to the end key which is right below the home key on my keyboard. Also I found fake hdr, levels, Dpx, luma sharpen, and vibrance gave me the best picture. Left them all default but put fake hdr at 1.220, .720, and .790

Anyone have a step by step walkthrough?
I tried watching the YouTube link posted a thousand times, I can’t see anything from the tiny screen and his audio is so horrible I can’t hear what he’s referencing

There are many other guides on youtube so hopefully one of them will be easier for you to follow. Just point reshade to the golf.exe in the game19 folder as shown in the original video I posted when you need to select the game file. e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2qKbNzoMM0

I used this walkthrough https://blog.simgolf.club/golfsimula...reshade-setup/ the only difference is he put his programs in a folder called program data. I had mine installed in the default program files folder but the rest was spot on. If you still can’t make it through the setup pm me and I would have no issues walking you through the setup over the phone if needed. Really is worth the effort to install.

I tried to install tonight but I can't find the folder in any of my files?
                  I found it.

Did it crash the software like in the youtube video ? renaming assemblies required ? or is that fixed ?

I did all the steps but I can’t get the menu screen to open up. I’ve pressed all different key commands. It must not have downloaded. Any help?

Reshade menu should come up by just pressing the Home button on the keyboard while the game is running. If it doesn't, you most likely didn't point reshade to the correct golf.exe file during setup. (make sure you chose the one in Game19 folder)

Do I need to uninstall and reinstall or just install again. Does it go to the fine called “game.exe”?

yes, you can just reinstall and point it to the correct golf.exe file. don't think you need to uninstall necessarily but it can be done if just reinstalling reshade doesn't work.

Hi everyone, great info here. I can get reshape to load, but no presets show up. How do I go back and get presets loaded into it?
                  thanks

Reinstall and select all of the options this time. In the like I posted about, watch the video at about 1:20

Has anyone noticed degraded video performance in other apps while using TGC2019 with Reshade?

Since installing and configuring for TGC2019 my Youtube streams (via Chrome) on a separate monitor lost significant video quality.
