  • Uneekor recommended setup inquiry

    Hi,
I have been reading materials from this board quite a bit. And I have decided to go with the uneekor for my golf simulator project. But I am still walking in the dark in every aspect and was hoping to get some help here...

I have an unfinished basement, 17 x 20 x 9-10 ft height... height is not accurate. But I swinged my driver, it was cleared enough.

My first question is, should I finish my basement first before starting installing any of the golf simulator? Eventually i would like to make this room as an entertainment room with a sofa and wall tv as well. Similar to the indoor screen golf rooms in some of the topgolf places.... or can I install the screen golf first and then finish the rest of the room later ?

next question have is the equipment. Are there list of recommended items that can be well paired with the uneekor? What kind of mat or net, screen should i buy? And where can I actually buy a uneekor ?

Third question, how much space do i need from the screen?

Sorry if the questions are too broad. I will Keep reading posts here but it is quite challenging project for me who has very little experience with any type of construction project.

    Many thanks

I'd finish it first. The rest of the questions look at the rest of the forum pretty much all of the questions are just general sim questions and has nothing to do with the sim hardware you pick.

I installed my sim first and then finished the rest of the basement a year later. This allowed me to tweak the location of the screen, size of the turf, distance from the screen, curtain locations, etc. and then know the exact layout that worked before framing and drywall.

Curious how far from hitting area to screen? Looks really close but could be deceiving base on room size. Thanks!

swingbysun I also say finish first, it is a lot easier to do that first than trying to work around things already installed, to buy a Uneekor go to; https://www.uneekor.com/
and as far as the rest of equipment a lot of that depends on your preference seems there is a lot to choice from and every one likes this or that due to their taste so to say. I put a fiber-Built mat into the floor of my sims room and it works great for me, at lest for me it is better than the hitting mats I had before. I bought my netting off eBay picked up the black nylon around the screen at a sewing shop. Got my screen from Par2Pro and the mounting clips and bungee to mount it, along with the turf for the sims room at Menards.

swingbysun I don't have an opinion about finish first or second but I am concerned slightly about your ceiling height. Uneekor works best when the ceiling is between 9-10ft, I know that is what you listed but then you said you were not sure. Also, your ceiling height can be reduced when you add carpet or a mat or any sub-floor. I wouldn't want that to become an issue as you build out the room.

Thank you all for the advice. Now I realize how this forum is structured better I will be searching for more build-related general information from the build forum. I measured the height and it is very tight 9 ft. Which means that Uneekor may not work best ? Has anyone installed uneekor with 9 ft ceiling ?

Email Doug at Uneekor. He may pass you off to Austin, but these guys are phenomenal to work with.

I'd agree that you should talk to Doug and/or Austin

just spoke with them there and they said my set up of 8'8" may create incorrect readings, they said 9 to 10 feet is what they look for

If your floor joist run the right way you could put in a recess in the ceiling to mount the Uneekor it looks downward and is mounted 3.5' behind the tee.
