  • Uneekor QED vs EYE XO

After doing all the research on a home simulator, I have decided to purchase an Uneekor. The challenge I am facing today is determining if the XO club data that is received from the swing is worth the extra $5k. Using the special dotted golf ball makes no difference to me for the QED. The course software (e.g., E6, TGC 2019) appear to be available for both systems. I believe you can hook up swing cameras to both of them also. I have looked over the cheat sheet on the comparison in another post and appears that their are way more similarities than differences. I have purchased the Optoma 1090HDR camera and that should provide great resolution for either unit. For those that bought the XO, am I missing anything as I evaluate what unit to purchase. Thank you for any thoughts!

DreamsofaGamer I think you'll be happy with either purchase, however for me I am upgrading from QED to EyeXo. Like you I thought the dotted balls would be no big deal but it actually kind of was for me, you can work around it by sticking premium golf balls but it's kind of bothersome. The main issue is once you get to higher lofts the provided ball just doesn't perform anywhere near what your shot would be normally. For instance I would normally launch my PW about 24 degrees with 9k spin, but with the provided marked balls I'd get like 30 degrees of launch and 4500 spin. So the result is the ball doesn't go the right distance and doesn't stop on the green.

For me the improved club data will be nice with EyeXo but probably more than I or most anyone else will need. To me the video of your club going through impact is all I need to see, it shows where you struck the ball and what your path and club face looked like, and that is all you really need to make adjustments imo.

Either way I would lean toward EyeXo because you can use unmarked balls, but he club data definitely isn't my reason for upgrading.

BTW I also have the 1090 HDR and its a great projector and I think you'll love it and will be pleased with either QED or EyeXo.

jerry3 Just curious, why change from the Quad. I’m also looking at the EyeXO so your perspective coming from the Quad would be very interesting.

pwade3 I decided to make the switch primarily so I could have more friends and family over to enjoy sim golf with me. That was one of my original goals but it never happened because I couldn’t really accommodate lefties or bad golfers. So it was really just me who could use the sim. Since the switch I’ve had friends and family over that could never have played previously and it’s been well worth the switch imo.

I wouldn’t have switched if the accuracy wasnt great but I found it to be very similar to my quad and more than good enough for me to work on my game.

Another reason was that Uneekor wants to integrate with 3rd party software and with quad your basically stuck with FSX which is terrible.

Cost is also a big plus.

jerry3 I really appreciate your thoughts on your decision process. I have sold both my LM’s and have been researching to figure out what I will get next. EyeXO is on the list but I would like to hear from more people who are receiving and using them. Thanks again.

jerry3 Thank you for your good remarks. My big concern is about the fact that EyeXO is positionned in front of you contrary to QED. Did you have some problems with that? Is the construction enough strong to resist to an accidental missing shot?

I would think so, given the positioning. Quad is able to withstand wayward driver shots by design so it would seem likely the EyeXO has had some measure of protection built in for a sky ball or overly aggressive flop.

Maybe somebody who owns one can chime in and confirm.

There’s a fella making balls for uneekor now that solve the spin issues , FYI!

I had a little bit of concern when I was purchasing the Eye Xo. Once I mounted it that went away quickly. At 3.5 ft in front of the hitting area it is extremely hard to hit. The only way will be by skying a drive. I can take my 60 deg wedge and open It a bit and not hit it. Uneekor also has a 2 year limited strike warranty on it. I don’t have the details of that yet but they must be confident that it can withstand a strike or two. It has a plexiglass?? Cover on it. The holes for the two cameras are small but a ball could hit them. I’m more concerned of the cables on the end taking a hit. That would damage the socket for sure. Still unlikely though.

Great helpful comments guys. Did you buy your eye XO in Canada? It seems that they are only two detailers Par2pro and InhomeGolf. But I think they ship the product from USA. Did you have some problems with the fees borders?

I ordered direct from Uneekor. yes I had to pay duties but Par2Pro price is more (or it was when I ordered) then Uneekors and it has calculated in the duties. I don’t think it matters either way.

Our pricing is exactly the same as Uneekor. You can purchase it in USD or in CAD. Some people find that they can get a better exchange rate with their bank as the CAD dollar fluctuates and we keep it at a standard rate for as long as possible to avoid mass admin / web changes. Hope that makes sense, but feel free to reach out to us at info@par2pro.com or toll free at 1-877-417-2161.

I have the Uneekor QED launch monitor for a year now and my wife and I love it. The Bridgestone marked balls are much better than the "rocks" originally provided. Bridgestone tells me they are very close to the Precept Laddie Extreme balls (High life, low spin, mid-compression).

The only issue I see with the IXO is that special stickers have to be precisely applied to each club. With the QED, friends and family can bring their own clubs to play (as is). I think most people would prefer to play a house ball than house clubs.I have no experience to say if the stickers would remain in place when playing "in the dirt".

The eye XO stickers are not required for SIM play. Only ball data is used in Sims.

It sort of depends. QED club data is mostly calculated. Eye xo with stickers is measured. You don’t have to use the stickers at all as mentioned by gojoholo. Stickers are very durable. I have had mine on some of my clubs for about 8 Outdoor rounds and have not had to replace them. Stickers do need to be put on precise or the data will not be correct. I personally love playing the ball I play IRL.

Can you just mark pro-Vs with a sharpie?

You can, but you will end up with an incredibly marked up screen and you will have to keep reapplying the dots every shot or two.

It’s also hard to get the pattern correct by hand.

Many people have tried this before...

Just use a bracket to lower the sensor to 10 feet.
            Working...
