  • Deciding between Uneekor QED and Eye XO

Hey all - just moved to a new home with an extra single car garage that I want to put a build in. Need some help and advice from this great group.

    My budget is ~15k top:
    1) Sim is mostly for playing with buddies
    2) Want as accurate ball flight as possible given budget
    3) Dont need measurements that are only for educational purposes - meaning, if they don’t impact the resulting ball flight in the sim software, I don’t necessarily need to have that data.

After some research, I think both the Uneekor QED and the Eye Xo will fit into the budget (though Eye XO May be tight). My main question is around point 3:

Does the Eye XO offer anything that will drastically impact the ball flight in there simulator software? Or is the extra data / measurements mostly for educational purposes to improve swing mechanics?

Thanks in advance for all the help!

Between the QED and EyeXO, you're basically paying 4k for a couple more club data parameters and the ability to use whatever ball you want. The ball data for both is very accurate.

It just mainly comes down to how much not having to use a marked ball is worth for you.

If you were buying now, which one would you choose?

At this point, 4k isn't worth the upgrade to me, especially since I discovered a solution for a marked ball with a urethane cover. If I had unlimited funds, probably would upgrade to a QUAD or EYEXO, but alas I have a budget lol

I have the EYEXO. The ball data and the club data read independently. The club data has no bearing on how the ball flight is illustrated. I think the club data is great and that is why I have it. As far as the ball data between the two I have no idea if the EYEXO is more accurate than QED. I would imagine that the newer system would probably have better cameras to read ball data plus you can hit any ball you want to. From what I read the QED is a great unit and will have club data capabilities soon too but may not be as accurate. I think EYEXO very accurate on ball data and that is what you are concerned about from above post.

Ah so that is definitely something I didn’t understand - “club data” doesn’t impact ball flight in the sim software? My assumption was that it did. Is this not the case in general? For instance, if a ball is struck dead center and with a high angle of attack, is this data still ignored on the software side?

I guess it makes sense since the only thing that should impact the ball flight is how it comes off the club (3 coordinate vector) and the spin . Is this correct?

Ball flight only depends on the balls initial velocity, spin, spin-axis, and launch azimuth.

Doesn't matter if you hit it with a hockey stick, putter, iron, driver, broomstick....

It's how GC2/Skytrak show an accurate ball flight without measuring club data and is why club data is considered a "bonus".

The ball flight, shape, distance, velocity, launch, etc...is all calculated by reading the dimples on the ball at least with the XO system. How the ball flies is based on how the club looked at impact and which direction the club arrived at impact. The club data portion answers the "why" the ball did what it did. Its more that just swing path and face angle. Dynamic loft and lie angle are huge knowledge points that can help bring your score down. The cool thing about the XO system is it tells you what you did and then shows you with clear images.

Funny, I have been weighing same choice. The occasional sky ball from the driver ( from my son of course) is of concern with Eye XO. Really prefer the impact image from the XO but not sure it, unmarked balls, and other features are worth the 4K to me. I go back and forth. Seems like QED has larger hitting area which I like.

I have my place up for sale right now, and one of the things I am using as a selling point is my sims room. I now have the QED but regardless if the sims goes with the place or not next step for me is the EYE XO either purchase or upgrade. I had the GC2/HMT and loved the data off it, so to me being able to see the ball impact on the club is a big plus.

I have never hit on either one but wouldn't want marked balls so IXO only way I would go. With the xo ill bet some guys will be upgrading to it and selling used uneekors. You might get a good deal on one of those.

I am also weighing both the QED and the EYE XO. Here are my three questions.

              1. Have the club stickers come out for the QED and is there a summary of the differences in club data available between the two systems? It's tough to know if I'll miss additional club data that is available with EYE XO.
              2. My ceilings are just barely high enough to swing my driver (9'). I would think that having a box mounted 3.5' behind my swing (QED) would have less chance of a impact by a club head (club is more cocked in the backswing) vs 3.5' in front of my swing (I think the follow through is the highest point of a swing and could come pretty close to a point 3.5' in front, right?)
              3. Some people have mentioned better impact pictures of the EYE XO (I'm guessing because it's in front and you can see the face). But with QED, can't you add side cameras that would help in this regard, or not really?

              Thanks!

1- The stickers for the QED will only be for helping validate the club data that they have now. It’s not to add club data. This is what Uneekor told me when I inquired about that.
2- My ceiling is 9’ 4” and I don’t come anywhere remotely near the Eyexo. Test it out. Put something on the ceiling 3.5 ft in front of your hitting area. I have a projector that sits between the Eye xo and the hitting area and don’t come anywhere near that either.
3- The impact video and pictures is amazing with the Eyexo. It’s not like on tv where they show the club as clear as day hitting the ball, but those are 18,000 FPS. Eye xo is 3000 FPS. That is really good. I was back and forth until I decided on the Eye xo and extremely glad I did.

Ask in all seriousness, why not just get a skytrak and save the coin? Nearly as accurate and a lot cheaper.

I had the Skytak. It’s a fantastic value in the LM market. I’m finding a big difference between the ST and Eyexo. Some are small details and others are bigger details. You have to want those details to pay the extra cost.

Club data, no shot delay, no silly annual fee, seamless LH/RH usage, to name a few.

TYVM Guys this is a great comparison. I was down for the QED but going to go for the EYEXO. For the amount I rekon it will be used it will be worth it.
