  • Great golf ball alternative

Hey guys, just curious if anyone else has had good luck with any other name brand golf balls that have pre-manufactured alignment marks on them for the QED. I’ve been hitting the Taylormade “TP5 pix” for the last two weeks with zero miss reads thus far.
I was hit in the TP5x for about a week but that’s a little bit too hard of a ball for my taste. The TP5 feels more like the pro V1 with great spin.

Chrome Soft Truvis works. Either white and blue or yellow and Black have been working for me. Occasional odd reading but usually on a really bad strike.

Yeah, I have tried the yellow/black truvis but did not have any luck with my qed for some reason. I can’t find any of the white/blue truvis anywhere.

I've been using the Taylormade TP5 pix as well. I've had a few misreads, but never after a good ball strike.
The majority of my misreads were when hitting off of a Birtee where the QED picture of the ball after the strike would show part tee and part ball.
I've gone to using a regular Fiberbuilt tee, and the misreads have virtually disappeared.
You can find twelve TP5 pix practice balls online for $20. They are at least worth trying in my opinion.

Love the practice balls. I think I bought almost 120 balls last year to use. They are perfect and last forever

That’s an awful lot of balls that last forever.

I like to rotate them around... Also my brothers have somehow been able to lose about 6 of them so far in my garage... I know for sure 2 of them are lodged in the wall by the impact screen... The others... probably those underpants gnomes...

I tried out the TP5x pix ball and it seems to work well. About 5 yards longer with irons than the Unicorn. Spin the same. Not many misreads. How are you guys finding the yardages?

        thx

When you do get a misread, what type is it ? Slightly off or dramatically ?

They're dramatically off on the driver. But it will depend on how good of a golfer you are and how hard you hit the balls. I assume people who only hit the ball below 240yrds won't have as many issues because your stock RPM off the driver won't spin higher lower than 3500RPM.

Sub in someone who its it 280+ @ 2400-2700RPM it cannot catch it for its life. My driver doesn't touch anywhere near 4500RPM and I get those.

The Pix are a no go for me. We saw maybe 1 out of 5 misreads. It's fine for the driving range or practice round, but no way I would chance it while playing a tournament round.

It seems that misreads happen more with an over 100mph club speed to me. The faster the swing, the more misreads I see.
They work fine for me as I rarely swing over 100mph, but guests with high swing speeds I see misreads with the pix as well as the proprely-marked bridgestones.

I have a low 90's swing speed, so I'm not sure. My son also had a putt that darted 45 degrees offline with a pix ball.

Will only work decently if you hit your driver less than 230-240yrds.
      Working...
