  • Accuracy and Misreads at high ball speeds

My Uneekor QED is fantastic and feels nearly perfect for everything. I have had it almost a year now. I say "nearly" because I tend to have a lot of shots not registered and ball speeds that are too slow when trying to hit long drives. I have been on trackmans many times and track my distances when I play. The Uneekor seems to struggle on ball speeds over 165-170 mph. Less than that and it picks it up every time with super realistic ball flight. If it is more than that then half the time it doesn't read it for me, or it states that the ball speeds are lower than they actually are. Does anybody have any evidence of high ball speeds 175+ consistently working on the Uneekor? I will say that it seems to register the shots lightly more often when I have sticker ON mode and a sticker on my driver. Club speeds seem to be captured accurately at high swing speeds. Also, I am using a SIM2 driver.

Jesus I hope to be at that speed one day. What kind of tee are you using? I remember one of the issues this forum has commented about is picking up the tee instead of the ball but that might be EYEXO only since your using the special ball. I assume you tried a different ball? I’m out of ideas. Sorry for typing…

Unfortunately I cannot swing that quickly.

My qed seems to read all my ballspeeds a bit slow compared to gc4 and trackman (about 5mph ball speed)

I have to hit a perfect shot with driver swinging harder than I normally would to get crack 160s. At club champion or pga superstore I can get those closer to 166-168.

But my qed is this way throughout the bag. My 6 iron ball speed on Qed is low 120s, 127-131 on trackman and gc4. Otherwise it's super accurate and has been extremely reliable. Alot of the software (E6 for example) seems to have generous distance algorithms, so my numbers still seem to come out fine with lesser ball speeds

I haven’t tried a different tee as I use the built in one that comes with the fiberbuilt. It has very few issues at other speeds.

I would say in general the ball speed is great. If it is a few miles per hour slower then it is difficult for me to notice with other club.

Now that I think of it I occasionally get misreads where no spin is detected when hitting wedges if I try to hit low shots with compression from time to time. Both my wedges and driver are darker in color. My irons are standard chrome finished and almost never has this issue. Can dark finished clubs be the culprit and does anyone have a solution?

Usually misreads due to club coloration appear with lighter clubs but it could be a glare issue too. In the case of white club heads the solution is to put a piece of blue masking tape (painter’s tape) on the club head to make it easier for the sensor to see.

Worth a try in your case as it’s an easy thing to test.

What type of golf balls are you using, the stock ones that come with QED, the Unicorns, stickers?
Slower ball speed might be attributed to the type of ball you're using and not getting the same energy transfer you're used to with a premium ball.

I use the tp5x and prov1 milled by Iowa cat. I'm sure the milling of the cover would increase drag for a real shot, but I've compared to other balls and over the 3 feet or so the qed measures, I can't imagine it'd more than a fraction of mph slowing.

At this point I just accept it as a minor flaw Tha I can live with. I don't even have the occasional no spin read, or mis read the original poster noted.

I think in 16 months of ownership it has truly misread less than 10 shots

When my nephew plays at my house his average ball speed with the driver is 173-176 and has reached 179 with no issues of misreads. He does claim on the GC2 he has access to his average is a bit higher and can get over 180 ball speed with driver routinely. He has played a few 100 rounds at my house now.

We use mainly stickered up ProV-1's or Bridgestone BX's ball. Have got some misreads when trying to use the PIX TP-5 ball. It reads about 70% of the time for him. The others are wild side spins but ball speeds seem to be in the right range.

We use the built-in Fiberbuilt tee and he has an OG Sim 1.

iI personally get more misreads with my Ping fairway woods(both a 410 and 425) than I get out of my driver that is also a original Sim. I attributed the misreads with the Ping to dull/matte finish on the Ping woods. I have heard or read of others with that issue as well.

It has no problem reading my measly sub 150mph ball speed drives (I can occasionally get the miraculous, everything timed perfect, ever-elusive 150 mph ball speed)

The tp5x-pix ball seems to give the best performance but it could be the culprit at high speeds. I haven’t thought to do tests with other ball types.

My experience with PIX is that any shot above 7,000 rpm spin doesn't get read by QED so I just get the estimated spin numbers
