  • 3rd party camera help (QED/Ignite)

First off, I want to thank everyone on this forum as the advice has been invaluable to my new Golf Sim!

I am trying to use a 3rd party USB camera that I bought off Amazon for swing analysis. I am using Windows 11, and the camera is able to be used by the "Camera" app within Windows for both visibility and recording. However, the camera is not coming up within the Swing Analysis tab within the Ignite software. Do I need to have two plugged in, or can I just use one? Is there any install/config that I need to do for it to be visible? Also, I launched QED and the QED_SO version with no luck. Here is a link to the camera I purchased: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07N1C81HB

Hey Chet, welcome and glad to hear you're liking the sim! From what I know, 3rd party camera setup is actually pretty simple. In the configuration page, there are two drop down fields on the configuration page where you can select the cameras connected to Windows along with their resolution and FPS settings. Sometimes people miss the drop downs in the config because they're just blank until you click on them and select the cameras. Can you take a look and let us know if that works?

You might want to try this first. I’m using Windows 10 and didn’t know about this option.

I saw this option, but nothing was listed. I am going to try preludesam's option of installing the driver and see if it shows up. Will report back

You need to find the driver that the manufacturer offers and install it. Currently Windows picks it up as a USB device and is able to use it but Ignite is not that smart. Ignite needs to be told this is a camera and it will recognize it once the driver has been installed.

So, as this is a ELP USB brand camera, I am not seeing a specific driver for it. The information sent with the camera simply points you to a Camera test application. I have also tried an old Logitech camera which I do have the correct driver. I am seeing some interesting behavior within Ignite. When a camera (either one) is attached, it will have a "Replay" snippet available after I hit. Although, there is no picture with either camera. When one is not connected, there is no replay option shown. It looks like it is recognizing that a camera is attached, but no picture. Any other ideas?

What do you see in the drop down box to select cameras in settings when both cameras are connected ?

I agree with myrison's check as we need to know if ignite is recognizing the camera and the name in the drop-down would help identify that. You could also find another program that would show the capture and eliminate the camera as being the issue?

So, I am at a loss when you say "drop down". There is nothing in the Ignite software which shows a dropdown option for a camera. Also, it is recognized within the "Camera" app within Windows and I am able to record a video and replay outside the Ignite software.

Open Ignite, click settings, find gray boxes, click in gray box, drop down with camera options appears. This screenshot attached to this post is from a slightly older version of the software I found on YouTube because I'm not at the same location as my Sim right now, but it looks 90% the same in the current software. If you don't see this on your settings page, please post a screenshot of your settings page so we can help figure out what is missing.

Wow...I don't know how I missed that. I am in the software design business, and this must be the worst UI design. Usually you have an arrow on the side indicating a dropdown. I just thought it was a disabled text box. Also, on my version, there was no group label at the top indicating these settings were for cameras. After clicking, all is good! Thanks so much for the help!

Sure thing. I figured this was it as it happens all the time and I agree, it is horrible design. Glad you got it running.
