  • 8'11" ceiling height for EYEXO?

    Hi,

I'm looking at getting the EYEXO in my basement that has 9' ceilings. I'm going to put down 3/4" matting and 1/4" turf (total of 1"), so the final distance from ceiling to floor will actually be 8'11".

    Two questions:
    1. Will the EYEXO unit still read ok at 8'11" (note: it will be 1" below the specified minimum ceiling height of 9')?
    2. I noticed the unit has to be mounted 3.5' in front of the hitting area. I'm a little worried about hitting the unit with a club. I can swing my driver with a 9' ceiling, but I'm pretty close to hitting the ceiling. I'm guessing the unit will hang a few inches below the ceiling. Isn't the 3.5' pretty close to exactly where one's follow through with their swing would be (i.e., the highest point of the swing arc)?

    Thanks!

Most people’s follow through is not straight vertical but instead on an arc more toward their shoulder than head. I have a projector right overhead in my setup and I’ve had 2 guys hit it with a club in 3 years. Both were 6’6” and both have played hundreds of holes with me and only clipped it once. And by the time your driver is that high it’s speed is much reduced so I don’t think it’s a huge worry.

Re: mounting height … I’m not sure but can tell you that question is asked very commonly here. Make sure to check recent history to get input. A common suggestion is to cut into your ceiling and mount the unit recessed rather than flushed. if you’re only an inch short you should be good with that option.

I have one that works on the same height you’re thinking about. It’s tedious to setup with calibration board, but that’s for everyone. If you’re thinking about going this route, shoot me pm bc I’m thinking of upgrading to eyexo 2 or going to quad for portability.

Yeah just so you know if you have any issues the support team will require you to set it at the proper height. Whenever you complete the calibration they will check the Z axis measurement.

Uneekors response to me at that time.

We have heard back from our developers on the shot data that we collected and they have determined that the elevation of your sensor is creating light reflection on your club causing misreading data.

Specifically your sensor is mounted at 2.58/2.65m high where it should be mounted no lower than 2.65m.

The developers are working at improving the ball detection algorithm to resolve this issue, but if you have the chance to raise your sensor this will help alleviate the issue in the meantime as new algorithm development can take time.

        With regards,

Follow up: so they said you need to set it to the correct height, and you said my ceiling is only 8'11" and then what happened? They said you are out of luck, we can't help? Or did they have some work around for the light reflection? Or did you get rid of Eye XO? Thanks.

All of the above. They stated unless it’s at the correct minimum height you may run into this issue and at the time there was no update to address that concern. I cut a hole in my ceiling and moved it. It did resolve that issue. It seemed to only happen with a very reflective 56 degree wedge.

I have since sold it only because I purchased a Mevo + for the range and really enjoyed the portability. I tried it in the garage versus the EyeXO and the Mevo + was spot on as far as accuracy.

Summertime I only hit at the range and never used the EyeXO in the garage so I picked up an X3 and sold the EyeXO. It was a great unit I just didn’t realize I had the space for radar and I needed the portability at the range.

Just a follow up on this as I see people have a difference of opinion. I can say Uneekor absolutely works once it’s set up correctly, even at your height. As I stated earlier, I have one that works flawlessly, I originally had problems with the sensor.dll file but after ordering a replacement usb my eyexo is spot on with the gc2 I own. I have measured club data against a quad but it seems to be accurate based on photos and correlates with what I see and feel. Don’t hesitate to buy a Uneekor as several members are using at less than eight feet. One thing I did notice is that instead of 3.5 ft in front of hitting area I put mine at 3ft and it perfect. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you go with eyexo as I’m confident yours can work as well as mine does.
