I'm beta testing it currently... I use GSPRO as my normal sim software. As expected, gameday does have some interesting features, but definitely needs some refinement. My biggest problem so far is that you cannot use a custom resolution, so there will be situations where it won't fill the entire screen. If this ends up being permanent, I'm don't think I would buy the software. I found in my one day of testing so far that it's more of a video game feel, while GSPRO is more simulation.
It also lacks some features, like a gimme circle and the ability to display different datapoints. For example, I couldn't display swing path and face angle separately. I'm assuming that this will be available in the full release though. I will say if this costs $2,000 or more, I would stick with GSPRO.Last edited by mjgolf123; 02-21-2024, 08:30 PM.

Just to clarify when you say it is not even close to it. Do you mean it is clearly better or clearly worse? If it is the ladder, that is a pretty telling comment for software that is being built four years after the one you are comparing it to!

It is a large file. There are like 17 files that need to be downloaded and installed, and each is over a gig if I remember correctly. It runs well on my computer, and I only have 16gb of ram. I have an Intel Core I3-12100F with a AMD 6700XT graphics card. I'm running it with a custom resolution of 1444x1080. When these companies list minimum CPU requirements, they should spec out which generation of the processor is required. Newer model I3's or I5's can outperform older model I7's or I9's.
After testing for another weekend, it seemed like a few items were addressed. I can now set it to the custom resolution that fits my screen. It makes the experience much better. That said, there still seem to be a lack of features and some bugs that need to be worked out. The courses, while limited to 4 or 5, are well done as you would expect from an OEM. Graphics and textures also look good as well. These courses are optimized, so stuttering and lag is kept to a minimum compared to some of the detailed courses on GSPro. Are the graphics better than GSPro's? I would say they are about even (which says a lot about the quality GSPro, considering the amount of course you get). You can tell the ball flight algorithms are pretty different. I hit about 5% further in Gameday than on GSPro.

I'm testing it as well and as of right now I wouldn't buy it over GSPRO if those were my 2 options. It's still a WIP of course and it plays pretty well but it doesn't do anything special that would make me switch over. It will never reach the number of courses GSPRO has and the gameplay doesn't offer anything that jumps off the page. It looks good and the courses are well done though. The ball to surface interaction is good and the ball hitting the green interaction is great as far as realism goes. Solid so far just nothing that makes me want to play it instead of firing up GSPRO when I have the time to play in the sim. Honestly I am more excited about the new Trugolf Apex software that is coming that supposedly has the ability to render every course on Earth in real time so you have access to every local course in your area on demand as well as any other course you wish to play. I'm guessing they'll not make available courses like Augusta and Pebble though due to licensing issue but I could be wrong.

How did you guys become beta testers for Game Day? I have an eye mini and I'm interested in testing it out.

Biggest issue for me so far is scaling to match the screen resolution.
It's good/fine. Would still stick with gspro.

Special, in that the during the beta testing on the four courses they have released for testing, having played each of them in real life, the detail is significantly realistic , with detail. The thing that make "simulation" golf good is the detail comparison to real life.... each tree in the same place, same height ratio, club house is accurately depicted, cart paths, tee boxes, tee markers, starter box, half way houses, bathrooms, etc. etc... houses surrounding the course, objects in the distance with actual pano ... this is what make it special.... its like being on the course.... when i played Rams Hill which is remotely in the desert 90 mins south of Palm Springs in the Borrego area, its seeing the airstrip a few miles away from the course in its exact location from the tee box out in the distance that is remarkable... its like being there...
