  • Time to upgrade my QED

I installed a simulator in late 2019 with a QED, Carls 15x8.5" preferred screen, fiberbuilt strip, CC elite turf to stand on and give an alternate mat type, an Optomo 1080GT and a decent PC at the time. I started off with mostly TGC2019 but in the last 1.5 years switched to more gspro.

The sim has been excellent for me and has been both fun as well as vastly improving my game. It also really helped me through covid lockdowns (lucky timing!) but i feel its time to upgrade. The dots on the balls in particular has become frustrating for me as im not in the US so getting balls or the replacement dots is a pain. Id also like a bit more lumens and 4k and the screen is looking worn. Money is not an issue within reason

Any recommendations on what to upgrade? I notice that Uneekore have a new Eye XR which basically seems like the QED without dots. Is there anything else that it brings that QED doesn't?
Also has anyone upgraded and not have to pay a subscription and maybe got a discount for already owning the software? My old QED package was for life so i feel i should be able to keep it. Finally any projector recommendations? I realize that maybe the difference between choosing an XR or a Eye XO. I dont need the advanced club data etc as this is more for social play. Thanks

Along with no marked balls you also eliminate the need for club stickers. 4K and a brighter image is always better, even on a tried screen. The new Gameday software Uneekor released looks visually awesome.

Go with the new Protee unit. No subscriptions and you get better Video of the club coming through the ball. It's also cheaper to purchase by about $1000 if you look around for a 10% off discount code to some sites that sell the unit.

Interesting idea but Protee own TGC2019 right or am i mistaken? Im a little skeptical as they did zero upgrades to it over the years despite everyone asking for it. Will they support this long term or do the same? Let me know if ive got this wrong.

Ive never found the video of the ball to be usefull - i care about the data. Is it measured or derived? I guess i dont care about that either as long as its very accurate but overall id say that the QED has been so trouble free for me so im inclined to go with Uneekor again. Im quite remote in Asia so reliability and trust is a big deal for me.

They are coming out with a brand new software in the next year or so, it was briefly shown at the PGA show in January. I'm not sure about the Club data, I think its AI doing the calculations in real time to give you the data. I would trust a front facing machine more than a rear unit personally but I'm sure they're both going to be good. I also have the QED and have had no issues with it except using the dotted balls but I think I am going to go for the Protee this fall just because there are no extra fees after the fact to use other software. I am guessing their new software will be subscription based as that's the way they all seem to be going now but I don't have an issue paying for it if it is a great product.

Maybe watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFsIkOMy8YA there are also lots of videos about the Protee VX which are all very positive- see 'Joe Lagowski' and 'Friendly Golfer' on Youtube. I understand Uneekor will charge you a yearly subscription to connect to GSPro, but there is the option of using their built in Sim software. Protee VX is subscription free.
I feel for you in the UK, as I'm based there as well. Uneekor sell to Europe through a distribution partner in Germay/Austria. The UK distribution has to buy from there- so there's a double mark up.
I think a QED recent sold on Ebay UK, so you might be able to get a chunk of money back to fund your new LM.
I understand the Uneekor overhead LM are not region locked, but it's probably worth double checking if you buy from abroad. Watch out for import taxes and VAT :-(

Sorry I think my username is misleading. I'm in Asia, Indonesia to be exact. Any unit I get would be purchased on a trip and brought back hopefully inside a suitcase.

I noticed there are a couple of Uneekor Eye XOs for sale on ebay uk. Obviously use the normal due diligence when buying online. Might be worth an offer. Protee VX new is not much more!
