  • Harrison Park. Danville, Illinois. 6027 yds. GPS and elevation accurate.

    Greetings!

This is my second attempt at an accurate representation of one of my
home courses here in Illinois. I took the advice from everyone and took my
time with it. Would love for you all to give this short, but unforgiving course
    a try!

    Thanks!
    Jeffrey Weathers

I live in Peoria, and few of my champaign friends play golf in Danville sometimes.
They played Turtle Run, Wolf Creek, and Harrison Park.
I will play this course for sure.

Weathers My wife n I played first four holes of your course this afternoon. That's all the time we had to play. I llike it. First four were fairly flat like courses in my area n greens relatively flat also. Reminds me of a course near me in the ofallon il area: Tamarack. It's in my favorites. I Will play full 18 with my buddies to see if they agree.

Not to hijack your thread, but I have been looking for other Illinois n st. Louis area courses. Have u found any others from this area that u like?

Thank you for the kind words!
I have yet to see any other courses from Illinois, but to be fair I have not done much looking.
I'll have to check that out.

    It's hole 15 really a 490 par 4?

      Caught that huh? lol
Indeed, it is a par 5 on the real course, but the software defaulted it to par 4 and I didn't catch it in time
to fix it before I published it. Unfortunately, one can't modify the course once it's published. I did manage
to get it in 4 shots today though!

      Thanks for playing the course!

I liked the course cudos on the design. I will be adding it to my favorites

Weathers. Just curious, ballpark estimate on time spent designing this? And what hints/tools/software would be helpful to others who may want to attempt this, like myself. Just from cursory research I've done on course design, appears to be a long learning curve and quite tedious to do a good design

On this one, and again it's my second attempt at a real course design, I spent about 3 weekends and some
time in between trying to get this right.
My tools included the 18 birdies app, as it allows you to place a marker anywhere on the map and will give
you yardage to the pin and the tee. Fantastic to figure out tree placement and the size of the greens. Also
      good for cart path placement.
Also there is a "free elevation by gps" tool online and I just realized google maps will give elevation too.

The learning curve would depend, I would think, on your skills with the computer. That said,
after the first few holes you have the basics down and after your first course you will be pretty
confident in your skills. At least that was my experience.

Oh yea, make sure you have it all right and no funky placements you didn't want
before you publish it. Can't go back and fix anything once it's published.

On my first course, Blue Needles, Fairmount Illinois, I misplaced a bush
right in the middle of the green on 16 and didn't catch it before it got
      published. Yikes!

Played it tonight. Very nice course.
Made the mistake of going pin high left on the 14th which left an impossible chip as there is no way of getting it close. I will hopefully learn from my mistake next time I play it.

I played against your ghost tonight. You had some pretty decent shots!
Really appreciate you giving it a try.

I really like the layout. The back nine was sneaky tough with the placement of certain trees. Only quibble I had was my Approach shots seem to roll past the green a few times. I didn't have very good spin on the ball, but still disheartening seeing balls roll 30 yards past the hole with an 8 or 9 iron. What was the setting for the firmness of your greens?

Firmness on default, but I did turn up the green speed a little. This course, in real life, has pretty fast greens.
Definitely a challenging back 9. Thanks for playing!

      Very fun course to play.
I played last night, and had a lot of fun.
I will play a few more times before I go to danvilla to play this course for real.
Hole #8, I was very excited to make an eagle, and I was disappointed not making a birdie after after good drive on #14.
Nice job on making this course.
