Hi everyone i released my latest course the other night Monks Head, the Links theme is one of the more difficult themes to work with, theres not a lot of variety with the plants, but hopefully if you like my style of courses you won't be to harsh on me lol, thanks Nigel

Ah cant wait for the next course sync so I can give this one a go! Your courses are always so damn picturesque on top of the great play-ability, and the pictures here look fantastic. Looks like im gonna have to make sure Im hitting it straight at times when I give this one a play through as well with some of the water penalties surrounding, but im definitely a fan of courses like that. Always get pumped to play it when I see you drop a new course!

Hello Ironstrokes, as usual there are no holes which have pinched in fairways but not super wide for Pro Tee, you and Bubba are the only two to regularly comment on my courses, it's weird it's the same on the tgc forum I might have a hundred views and no comments where as others have loads off feedback, never mind I make them for my own satisfaction not others, I think you should enjoy the challenge when it's synced, sorry about the water lol, nice to hear from you, Nigel

Yea I noticed that same thing too, its really strange, you should get much more recognition for your courses. I get the feeling that over on the HB forums its a few designers that get all the praise and/or the ones that make a really good recreation course. You've been over there much longer than I have but that's the impression I get at least. Sure the recreations are awesome to have and see and a little easier to determine how good or bad they are designed since there are actual pictures and videos out there of how they are supposed to look and play, but its the original designs that are the coolest to me and how you put whats in your mind out on the course and make it look awesome too.Originally posted by enef56 View PostHello Ironstrokes, as usual there are no holes which have pinched in fairways but not super wide for Pro Tee, you and Bubba are the only two to regularly comment on my courses, it's weird it's the same on the tgc forum I might have a hundred views and no comments where as others have loads off feedback, never mind I make them for my own satisfaction not others, I think you should enjoy the challenge when it's synced, sorry about the water lol, nice to hear from you, Nigel
Im sure most of us golfers have had the dream of how wed design a course at some point or another. And if I ever get the patience to learn how to proficiently work the GNCD and sit a make my own courses, Id love to recreate some ideas I have in my mind. Would just be frustrating if I wasnt good enough at it to make it look exactly how I wanted though.
Definitely hope you keep making courses and eventually start getting some of the recognition you deserve as well. Cant wait to see what you do in TGC2, now that's gonna be amazing seeing what you do with the different levels of water and all!

Yes it's strange why I never get many comments like the others do, as of this morning I have had 133 people view my post on the tgc forum and only 1 comment from a guy that criticises everything known to man, he says it doesn't look like a links course, oh! well at least he wrote something lol, I've had 24 plays so far and a rating of 8.3 although I expect it to drop to around the 7.8 as more people play the course, it usually does. I haven't the time to recreate a real course, if you do that everything would have to be so precise elevation, bunkering etc: and getting the info off google maps or something similar is time consuming, and to be honest with you although the Golf Club is great if I was making a real course i would like the tools to make the whole course rougher round the edges, I live in Wales and in the Mountains, the local courses are on the side of the mountain and we get a lot of rain, I would like the rough to be rougher with fallen leaves everywhere, ditches and bare earth patches etc: everything looks too nice in tgc, realism that's what we need, many thanks for your support, Nigel

wbond you have to wait until its synced on here, this video is from the PS4 which is what i use to design the courses on, unfortunately i haven't any Pro Tee equipment, although not specifically designed for Pro Tee i always have fairly wide fairways with no pinched in fairways, and reasonably large greens so i can move the pins around, i did Desert Wells Pro Tee version 2 months ago where i moved the tees up so you wouldn't need a such a long iron into the green but its only had 6 plays so perhaps its a little tough, thanks Nigel

Actually there were probably several more plays than just 6. A lot of times guys on the sim if they arnt playing great or just want to practice we will start rewinding shots and taking them over again. After you do that a bunch of times throughout the round you don't want it to count toward your in game stats and handicap so then you just exit out before the course is done and I don't believe it will count as an official play.Originally posted by enef56 View Postwbond you have to wait until its synced on here, this video is from the PS4 which is what i use to design the courses on, unfortunately i haven't any Pro Tee equipment, although not specifically designed for Pro Tee i always have fairly wide fairways with no pinched in fairways, and reasonably large greens so i can move the pins around, i did Desert Wells Pro Tee version 2 months ago where i moved the tees up so you wouldn't need a such a long iron into the green but its only had 6 plays so perhaps its a little tough, thanks Nigel
And that would be super cool if you could make the imperfections like that in the course designer. Probably something they wont implement any time soon im guessing as even real life course designers don't intend on purposely having imperfections. But would surely be interesting to see leaves and ditches and stuff like that in places

Yea actually played a round on it so far a few days ago when my old man came over to play. Havent gotten a chance to do the play through video on it like I really want to as of yet because my back has been killing me the last few weeks so trying to slow down my golf pace for a bit while I recover, so my game has been slacking a bit as well. Want to be at 100% for the playthrough to really get a feel for it and see how well i can actually do on it.Originally posted by enef56 View PostHi Ironstrokes, did you manage to get a round in on Monks Head, interested to hear your views
For this play, we both struggled a bit, dont remember the scores, but it was by no means any fault from your designs. I just wasnt swinging well that day and trying to play though the pain haha. But we both loved the course!
Read the one comment by that guy on the hb forums about how he criticized that it wasnt a traditional links course and blah blah blah, I say screw that because links courses bore me the majority of the time honestly, and this course creator is all about bringing an individuals touch on a course that otherwise would never be able to exist. For me personally, unless you are out playing a links course in real life, its often just too plain in my eyes. But here you made a course that felt linksy (well just call that a word haha) yet was much more exciting to play and far better to look at to me.
Ill talk more on it once I get back to 100 percent again and start doing some play throughs again with yours being on top of my list. But gotta say as always, your par 3s always look incredible the second you get on the tee and see it. I know I get pumped when I see the next par 3 coming up on one of your courses because I know its guaranteed to be a treat to say the least.
And that drive-able down hill par 4 16th, love me the drive-able par 4s and this one was probably my favorite of yours ive played so far! With how it looks off the tee and the great risk/reward with the little pond just past the green, the bunkers surrounding and the water and bushes short right, was freakin awesome!
You gotta start getting more credit for these beautiful courses and looking forward to giving it a bunch more plays.....and this is coming from a guy who isnt the biggest fan of links courses either. Great work!
