  • Question -- Hitting net hooked to dry wall

I have setup my portable sim area in my living room. I have two hooks attached to two ends of the livingroom dry wall and I attach the net to that. After 10 sessions or so, I notice that the hooks start coming out of the dry wall. I am using those plastic ribbed anchors plus a hook. How can I go about ensuring a much tighter hold ? I dont want open holes the dry wall and pretty soon I will run of space . Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I am pretty sure you will need to be screwed into a stud, not just drywall. Those plastic anchors are more meant for vertical loads, not being pulled outward. If you need the hooks to be in a specific spot without a stud, you could run a 2x4 horizontally between the two closest studs and screw both ends into a stud. Then put your hook into the 2x4. You could paint it to match the room so it wouldn't be too ugly. Othewise, cut out a strip of drywall and mount the horizontal stud inside the wall, then patch the drywall.

pretty much dead on with andy's recommendation on adding an outside 2x support depending on the tension you are using you could go with a 1x also if its minimal
