  • advice on 3rd bay setup

So currently I have a 3rd garage bay that I will not be using for the forseable future. The rails on the garage door track allow 7 feet height for screen/enclosure. The garage door/rails is 8 feet wide. I have about a foot on either side of the rail for space as well. The garage ceiling height is 9 feet so I have no problem swinging a full driver in the space.

I'm having trouble coming up with ideas on how to build it out with this space. If I should try and build a pipe cage enclosure that is 10 feet wide, and 7 feet tall that would fit under the garage rails with a depth that would be enough feet in front of me to not hit a driver on. Basically i would have to stand several feet outside of the cage so i would hit any clubs on the top of it.

Another option would be one that was 8 feet wide that fit inside of the rails and prevent the garage door from opening and closing. For this set upt though it would just be a square pipe set up the screen would go on that could be moved out of the way if i needed to open the door. I could also do some sort of side/top netting.

Ideally what i would have liked to have done was put the screen/enclosure on the back wall opposite of hte garage door, but I have a storm shelter in this bay and the ground is not fully even because of this. I'm using a skytrak so I'm pretty sure that would lead to all kinds of nightmares setting that up. Also the hitting mat would probably get some strange tension by not setting on flat surface(it's higher in the middle where the shelter is vs the outside. It may be possible to find something to try and level out the hitting mat, but i don't know if i could ever get it perfectly level. To give you an idea i'll put a picture of a similar storm shelter. The hitting mat would go on top of this and as you can see it's not flat.

I also have a perfect space upstairs, but sadly the ceiling is only 8 feet. I know I won't be able to use a driver up there for fear of hitting the ceiling.

I have a simulate issue. I used balastraude wire in front of the rails with loos cable ties on the sides as this helps the ball to drop straight down and it works perfectly. I can disconnect the front ones in about 2 minutes and hook it behind the rail loosely when not in use. I also use a bottom wire that does not need to be disconnected to be able to get under the rail

It's a seriously great and cheap option, way better and easier than pipe and cost me about $50 all up.

Side cable ties loosing on bot sides to eliminate any spring back

Top cable ties fully tight. This is supporting a 5m x 3m screen

This is the result so far https://youtu.be/qat_PGjtxAk

Do you have any kind of side netting or just the screen?

Also on the back wall option it's 11 feet from the wall to the storm shelter concrete that is not flat. Originally I didn't think that was enough space but now after reading and seeing some people have 8 inches from the screen to the wall that would still give me 8 or 9 feet.

No yet but I have it there ready to put up. I'm going to use black moving blankets for the sides that are 1.8m by 3m using the same method. Then from the roof I am going to do similar but concertina a couple of them for if I hit a little bit high which has only happened once.
