    Es16 or GC2 ???

Just read through the thread on ES16, looks like the latest firmware has really helped this unit get much closer to what it was intended to be. Am I correct that one of the biggest differences between these two is the ES16 assumes center contact and GC2 uses ACTUAL face contact to calculate ball flight ?

Also, is ES16 much closer to a buy recommendation or is it still on hold pending the release of the new "improved" unit ?

Gc2 and es16 both takes pictures of the ball. Es16 is much closer to skytrak than a gc2. I think read somewhere that skytrak takes 2-3 pictures while the gc2 take 8-10 and is therefore more accurate. I think at this point in time for accurate ball data gc2>skytrak>es16.

Regarding club data. Hmt (optional club data attachment for gc2). Uses a camera to take picture of the face of the club and is very accurate. When using 4 dots it can give your dynamic lie angle and even impact location on the club in addition to the normal numbers. Radar based systems (es16 is radar for club data I believe) are getting data from behind the club. They typically do not give impact location or lie angle. Having used my gc2, impact location on driver is perhaps the most valuable piece of data you can get.

I personally would be afraid of the es16 until I saw it in person or there was more feedback from people that have used multiple systems. It’s awefully expensive if it were to do ball data and club data inferior. Personally I think the gc2 for ball data if you can afford it is better than es16 at this point in time. For sim use, ball data is all you will ever need. Club data is more for swing improvements.

    good luck in your research.

I am biased though as a happy gc2 buyer that added an hmt to it after 6 months.

Sure would be nice if there was somewhere you could go to try out all 3 and make a purchase decision based on your own experience and preference !

I have Skytrak and I like it very much! I'd like to get a GC2 with HIT but that's a lot of $$$$$$$$$

Seems to me the ES16 is the poor man's (or cheap mans) GC2 with HMT.

I own an ES-16 and I dam sure would not recommend it to anyone at this time, I keep getting told the next update will fix it or that there is a new upgraded part they will put in it to make it better, but it is all a lot of talk and very little else. You have to place the ball just so, and that depends on each person and the way they hit so you have to play with it to see how to best place the logo to get the ES-16 to get the best reading for yourself. It doesn't work outside as claimed, and doesn't give very accurate reading on direction or angle so how can you trust anything else it shows. One person will tell you this portion is based on readings then one will say it is mostly calculated, and just about all of them will tell you, "You can't expect it to be perfect." I was looking at buying a GC2 when I was talked into buying the ES-16 I got my unit in the first part of August 2016 and it has yet to reach the capabilities that I was told it had at that time. I have been lucky and able to use a GC2 and believe my I had rather have one of those than an ES-16 any-day. Far better reading and very few missed reads and you don't have to bend over and place the ball just right in just the right spot to get it to work. I was told on July 5 2017 that a new ES-16 unit that worked outdoors would be released in August and that it may be an option to please me. Then on October 9 2017 I was told that I would be sent a "New Test Unit" when I ask about it on October 23 2017 I was told they are not mass produced and it would take time, now here it is November 14 2017 and still nothing and I paid $6,950.00 for this unit back on August 5 2016. All I have gotten out of Ernest Sports are delay tactics and a suggestion that I sell my unit to someone else to help pay off the loan I took out to buy the dam thing. Now the unit I have will not download the new FW 1.52 so I am still using FW 1.51 on mine but then again the unit was suppose to easily download any new Firm Ware releases through the ES-16 APP.

Not suprising..... it was a similar experience with my ES14. Lots of talk about upgrades to the app, no action. Waited 2 years for the Android app to get the same features for practice as the IOS app... several promises of it coming "soon" or "next week" and was never updated once in the 2 years I had it. Finally sold it.

The experience soured me completely on Earnst Sports..as it doesnt feel like they invest in better ongoing support or upgrades.... and look how long they have been taking to get the ES16 out to retail.

Honesty I would go GC2 only of you demand the utmost accuracy. If you can live with a couple percent deviation in spin, distance, etc.. get a Skytrak. Very happy with mine... and I feel its very accurate

Why does this keep coming up as a question?!
Everyone knows what the answer is... GC2.

If you want the real deal, go for the GC2. If you don’t have the funds, then stick with your Skytrak. Don’t buy an ES16, as it’ll be like taking a step backwards and throwing money into a hole!

Sorry, but I didn't think it was redundant considering the new information on ES16.

Fair enough... but I doubt there is an ES16 owner out there (that’s not trying to kid themselves) that thinks the ES16 is on the same level as the GC2. I think that’s pretty obvious even from a price point of view.

All you have to do is read this forum...

There are countless posts of people saying "If you can afford a GC2, buy it! You won't be sorry!"

But there are still ZERO posts of people saying "go out and buy an ES16 now!"

Bet you’re glad you didn’t get an ES-16.
That video of a guy taking a practice swing behind the ball and the ES-16 giving full shot data just shows what a piece of crap it really is!

I'll say, yes and no to that.

Yes, I'm glad because of all the issues they've had and continue to have with the unit. No, because if the unit functioned as it was supposed to with the new Firmware it would be a heck of a savings !!

I can also feel for all the people that purchased with expectations WWWAAAAAYYYYY past what they got !!

I got the ES-16, TGC, and the extended warranty for $6950.00, I had priced a GC2 with software, and could have gotten it for just about the same price at the time I bought the ES-16, but I was assured the ES-16 was a much better unit and if not I could get a full refund. Sure wish I had found this form or one like it before I made my choice and not after. Maybe one of these days I can get myself a GC2, I have to say of the ones I have gotten to use I sure did like the way they preformed.
