  • Trackman 4 vs GC2 Outdoor Result

    Test Environment:
    *Outdoor Grass turf
    *No wind, perfect weather
    *Callaway Practice Balls
*Trackman software normalized mode to have an equal field as GC2
*Tested 56 Wedge, 8 Iron, 4 Iron, Hybrid and a Driver

Conclusion: The data are very very similar that it is crazy and negligible (everything is only 1-3 yard/degree different on average which is totally within the tolerance! Isn't this crazy!). However, I don't know if my unit is weird but as I saw it in different posts too, GC2 has a slight draw biased result (the ball spinning little bit more to the left which results in the ball showing that it's going to the left when it didn't go that much in real life). What this means is that it has a potential of the ball going as far as 10~15yds to the left). If this Spin Axis (Side Angle) gets fixed by GC2, I can safely switch to GC2 because the data will be the same indoor with always accurate measured Spin Rate readings (in which Trackman oftentimes has to calculate which are off as high as 2000-3000rpms).

I will also test it indoors within a few days.
Please see the attached (the results are all averages for each clubs).

This was a very interesting test indeed.
I saw it on the internet somewhere, where someone who claimed to be a tour professional in Thailand, saying GC2 seems to be draw biased, while Trackman seems to be slightly fade biased, and the truth is in between. I kind of feel the same way: if the truth is 0 degree, GC2 is -5, while Trackman is +1 (cuz in Trackman it's really not noticeable except a few times). I am wondering about other GC2+Quad users on this input.

Forgot to tell you some of the difference for each clubs:

Ball Speed: Trackman was faster throughout

Launch Angle: Pretty much the same throughout

Launch Direction / Side Angle: GC2 more to the right throughout

Spin Axis / Tilt Angle: GC2 way more to the left throughout

Spin Rate: Short irons (more spin on Trackman), Longer clubs (more spin on GC2)

Apex / Peak Height: Only driver being higher on GC2

Carry: Only driver being longer on GC2

Land Angle / Descent Angle: Short irons (higher on Trackman), Longer clubs (higher on GC2)

Good test. Will be interesting to see your indoor results. If possible use some impact spray/tape to see differences whit heel and toe hits.

In your outdoor test the gc2 was showing launch direction more to the right. So that would indicate that it's even more draw biased than your sheet shows right?
Was the gc2 elevated from the ground at all?

It was on the same level. I couldn’t find any 7/8” elevated platform to try it. At home I can try to lift it up 7/8”.

And yes the launch direction was more to the right on GC2 but it was within 1 degree which is not even an issue, unlike Spin Axis which was like 10 degree off.

I use a book to elevate my GC2. lol

I When you do the next test, try to see if you can spot a difference with the gc2 elevated vs level.
I wonder if one could do a test with two gc2:s one for righty and one for lefty where you swing over one of the units? This could be a useful test to determine best height for unit.
Also interesting to see if they would show same curvature for both a draw and a fade.
      Anyone have two units?

I didn't do my outdoor test again but with indoor this time I elevated by 7/8". But still similar result. Actually GC2 hooked slightly more.

Found another wood platform that is about 1.14" high. I will try with this again.

Try to calibrate the GC2 then run it again. Might make a difference. For sure won't hurt the GC2 as long as it isn't a GC2t

I'm also curious about the GC2 and left spin. I get a lot of left spin with short clubs (Doesn't happen in real life). I saw that you made a thread about this issue a few years back mthunt. Did you ever fix the issue ? Did running the calibration tool fix that for you ?

Redline unfortunately I don’t think it’s as easy as it sounds. Because you cannot tilt gc2 as it’ll screw other numbers. And sometimes GC2 reads it correctly like 2-3 times out of 10. I think if this is a common result for a lot of GC2 users this needs to get fixed by Foresight.

My intention was to change the aim in the simulation software (TGC)...more to the right and not change the placement of my GC2. It would be great if foresight could fix the issue on their end, but I doubt that will happen since the product has been out for several years and they're focusing on new products now.

Well, GC2 is still one of the best selling products I am sure. And from my testing this is an awesome product at a reasonable pricing. So Foresight still needs to focus on this population and still make it active. After all, they’re still selling it and didn’t discontinue it so...
