  • Help with set up

    i have built a room 15.5 wide. 26.2 deep.
My screen is 15.2 wide 10 tall.
My hdmi cables are 17 ft back from the screen.
I am going to run the foresight gc2. What would be the projector I should go with? Thanks

Look up projector discussions here and go with what will fit your room based on what you read and then go to Go to projector central and see if I works. You have enough room for a wide variety do the projectors that people end to go with from here it is just a question of what might suit your room environment.

Your dimensions are almost identical to the ones I'll have. Do you know how far back you'll stand? Are you using curtains or enclosure? I'm going to splurge on a an epson 4-5 k lumen uhd shift projector. Something like the Epson PowerLite Pro G7400UNL.

What are your reservations about the GC2? Pretty much the general consensus on this forum is that skytrak is the best value but Gc2 is an upgrade from it and the best short of dropping 15-20k on a trackman. If you might need left and right handed then protee is a good option

If you have enough distance (at least 12ft, recommended 15ft) from ball to screen, and is looking for the least margin of error, then i would recommend trackman 4. Trackman 3 is a better deal but doesn't read chip/putt. Indoor, Trackman 4 also has some non-reads if it's less than 6ft and calculating ball spin resulting in different carry numbers than real life sometimes. Otherwise the next best thing would be GC2 (but depending on players some might get a little more draw biased than real life). Flightscope is good too but doesn't read chip/putt yet (X3 can read chip/putt but doesn't support any simulator games yet). GC Quad, GC2's brother, should be good too but only supports one software. All in all, for me it's either Trackman 4 or GC2. Both have a margin of error and have its strength and weakness.

All in all, in this industry for a launch monitor, it seems like you pay more for obtaining less margin of error. All devices output data are extremely similar if the ball is struck properly. More errors if shanked and etc. Depends on your setup, budget and preference.

Just my two cents after testing a few different units.

Thanks guys for all your help. I am going with the gc2 I guess. The last thing I have to get is projector. My screen is 15 ft wide 10 ft tall. My power for my projector is 17 foot back from the screen. Would like to
                    find one less then a
                    grand

You'll be pleased with the purchase. GC2 also misreads a few shots but is much less than Skytrak, and is so much better reading chip/putt/ball spin (tracks almost all the time) than Trackman 4. Make sure to test your GC2 outdoor to see if you get a slight draw biased too. It is very player dependent tendency. Plus, if you go with GC2, you should minimize your cost in making less space. All you really need is about 8ft deep.

Also, if Trackman 5 comes out, maybe it'll require less space than now to read the right spin numbers (hopefully less than 10ft) so you can upgrade to Trackman 5. Trackman 4 improved slightly by a few feet less required than Trackman 3 so it's possible.

This picking the right projector is tough.

If you are wanting your hitting area at 11 ft. (probably so you don't hit the ceiling with wedges) and you want to mount your projector at 17 ft. Have you considered it casting a shadow?

My recommendation would be to mount it right above the hitting area. Are you ceiling or floor mounting?

LEO MODE I’d love to see your track man testing without choosing a club in software. At range if I have driver selected and use an iron or vice versatile I get bad spin numbers too often for my liking on a Trackamn 3. Choosing a club doesn’t affect the GCQuad algorithms.

How do you get bad spin numbers from a TM3? The only reason you select a club from the TM software is so you can keep track of your numbers. It has no effect on the units ball measurements.

I don’t know the reason but repeatedly run into it at the place I go for lessons. I’ll just say that spin is the only stat I lack a bit of faith in for Trackman which for indoors is a huge deal since it uses that for carry calculation. The only times my ball has been flying 20 yards longer than normal is because my spin numbers are greatly reduced. Just my personal experience and could be an issue with that TM but happened on multiple occasions.
