    Projector Choice

Good evening folks. So I am starting to narrow some things down on my sim. I spoke with the owner of Homecourse today to discuss my options, and I think we can make it work.

The 2 pieces im left with are this.

Which projector to use. - I have about 6 ft from ball to hitting screen. So my throw distance is .83:1 so the benq here https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...5843535b8219bd
would work just fine I think.. But its not HD.

If i go with E6, im going to want a high end projector in at least 1080 id imagine right? Does anyone here play a sim with 1280x800 resolution with e6 or another graphically intensive sim and is happy with it? I think ill always be asking WHY didnt I get a better projector.

    2nd thing.
I dont have the room behind my screen to hit real balls (i dont think). So im not 100% sure about "almost golf balls" With skytrak or other sims, are they accurate enough? I read mixed reviews on them as far as use with a sim. Ive long said if there is an obvious loss of distance, why wouldnt the software allow you to put in a "fake ball" offset percentage. For isntance, if you KNOW you are hitting 20% shorter, let me put that in the sim, so that it compensates for it.

    thoughts?

    thank you

I have that projector and use it with TGC, works very well. I run it in 16:10 and it fills the screen (little over 14 X 10) nicely. I would however suggest a 1080 projector and a higher grade screen. It's a little extra money now, a lot later.

As to the almost golf balls........ You will get almost results with Skytrak, their distance and spin numbers will be not quite real life.

thats what im afraid of. I dont want almost good stats, I want good stats. As much as it would still be fun, i think the thud factor, and the lack of accurate stats may kill the fun for me.
      thank you

If you get TGC you can boost your carry distance to compensate for the almost balls. I don't think the boost changes the spin numbers.

is that boost on TGC customizeable? for instance if i lose 20%, but someone else only loses 15% can that be set? thank you

im slowly coming to the realization that this basement sim room may not happen... its depressing the sh*t out of me. I dont want a garage sim, i want one next to my bathroom, next to my bar, next to my gigantic GD popcorn popper.
