TGC Full Licence from SkyTrak to GC2

Hi - I'm exploring getting TGC as well as a GC2. Currently own a SkyTrak

I know people sell their TGC license in the classified section for $500-$750+, but as an alternative, couldn't someone just buy TGC for the SkyTrak ($795 currently) and then transfer it to GC2 and basically save $200? (TGC is $995 when you buy directly for GC2). Is there a transfer fee? I saw another thread and didn't sound like there was one at least back in March 2018.

Okay - I see several recent posts that suggest there is a $250 transfer fee for TGC. But does this apply only if you are transferring to another person? Or also if you are keeping it for yourself but just transferring from SkyTrak to GC2?

Separate question - if I buy a GC2 from someone 2nd hand, do I have to register and pay the $500 transfer fee as part of either setting up TGC or transferring TGC from SkyTrak to GC2 (to myself)? Will I be required to register as part of the process of obtaining the license codes necessary for TGC / ProTee?

I transferred TGC to my GC2 from my ST last year with no problem. Just had to contact Protee and get a new number for the GC2. No cost involved.
