  • Golf Sim Research Harder than Spanish 2

After a week of research, I think I’m more confused than my first visit to Cozumel trying to find the bańo.

Any thoughts, directions, or criticisms welcome please.

I'm horrible at golf and must get better for work but don’t have the ability to hit the range. I know I need lessons on which i’m working.

1- top goal is to get better at golf.
2- need RH and LH without changing setup.
    3- budget is 25-35k.
    4- size isn’t really a concern.
5- playing some courses with friends would be cool.
6- playing other sports on it kinda cool for the kids but not a big thing.
7- don’t need seating or any fancy amenities as it’ll be in a rec basement with those things already.

Ive seen some setups on eBay but they’re 4-8 years old it seems.

    Thanks for the help!

There is a new system called Uneekor that sounds like it would be a good fit for you. It is camera based and sits above the hitting area so left or right handed play is possible. It gives both club and ball data which is helpful for improving. You will be able to tell your swing coach what your numbers are and he should be able to give you drills and target numbers to try and reach. Get a fiberbuilt mat that has stance mats on both sides, or you can build the fiberbuilt panels into a custom floor covered with turf. Carl’s enclosures are a good value for an off the shelf setup. You will also need a short throw projector (benq and optoma are popular) and a gaming computer with a good graphics card. TGC2019 for software will get you all the courses you could ever want to play. All in you are looking at around $12k

Having used the new Foresight Hawk, I’d say it’s a real contender for LH RH sim. It’s pretty slick.

No club data for a while yet though.

I'm also considering a Hawk but with little information about club data being released it's probably a deal breaker for me.

When Foresight launched the HMT it was similar. It will work great but they are not ready yet.

Do you think they will be able to do it without dots on the club face?

I imagine dots will be needed.

Hey Derek, coincidentally I have a similar setup on order, adding a projector and Carl’s screen. I’d appreciate if you would share any suggestions you have after you finish your build.

Thanks. Could a tablet run it efficiently like a Windows Surface?

I'm not sure if a tablet can run any of the Uneekor software. TGC 2019 will likely need more horsepower though to have a smooth gameplay experience. You can always buy the PC version of the game on Steam and try playing it on your Surface tablet with a mouse and see how it looks. There are several threads about different computer configurations on here for around $750, but in general you want an Nvidia GTX1060 or better graphics card with at least an Intel i5 processor.

Will do. Have the Uneekor but not installed yet. Been using a SkyTrak and the fiberbuilt turf. The turf was 4 crazy heavy boxes and amazingly easy to put together. That weight keeps it solidly in place. You can't hardly move it if you tried, even on a slick tile floor. So set it up where you want it as it's tough to budge.
