Which Simulator should I go with?

Hey guys, I need a little help/advice on which simulator to go with.

I almost pulled the trigger on a Full Swing Sport Series wide model simulator. In talking back and forth with their sales rep I started to do a little more research and that led me to finding this forum.

After finding this forum I’ve backed up a bit and I think I am leaning towards 3 different possible options

- Full Swing Sport Series (wide)
- Uneekor
- Trackman

I saw a bunch of stuff on TGC as I was doing my research. I had no idea you could play against other people online, I think that is pretty cool. (I believe with Full Swing you can’t play TGC)

I am a scratch golfer, my needs in a simulator are consistency and graphics. I want the picture to look as realistic as possible and I want the results to be real and consistent. I also have a budget of $50k if I need to go up that high to get what I’m looking for.

Any advice would be great as I am open to anything now.

So you're comparing some apples to oranges. Trackman and Full Swing compare somewhat but Uneekor is a low cost DYI system. I use Trackman and Full Swing often. Both are great but super super expensive. I went into my sim journey with an unlimited budget mindset. I looked at Foresight, AboutGolf, Full Swing and HD. I choose Foresight and feel like it was a great decision. Back then you couldn't chip or putt on Trackman so I never looked at it. Having said that, my old club has Trackman 4. It's great if you have the room but putting isn't ideal.

Of everything I've mentioned Foresight is the most adaptable and accurate indoors. I use a GC2/HMT with various software but mostly just TGC2019 now. If I were buying today for indoor purposes I'd look at Foresight, Uneekor or Trackman.

Pros:
Trackman - no stickers on clubs, Accurate, LH/RH friendly
Foresight - accurate and easy to set up. Hawk is LH/ RH friendly
Uneekor - no stickers and accurate

Cons:
TM - none really except putting isn't amaizing
Foresight - GC2/ GCQ need 2 of them for seemless LH RH
Uneekor - balls have to be marked

Keep in mind, I'd rather build my own sim than pay a ton of money for someone to do it for me. Lastly, this is my opinion.

mthunt Great advice as always! I think that if you spend a little time on the forum, you might find that you can really reduce your budget a bit, as you can have a great looking room for less.

I ended up up going with the TM4 and before that I had a TM3e, which I am currently selling. I also think he three most popular options people are going with at the moment are Foresight, Uneekor and Trackman. However, Flightscope Mevo+ has really gained a ton of interest since its launch a month ago and SkyTrack has also been very popular (Ithink with your budget you are looking for something more than these).

I would have a read of pros and cons of each from people on the forum and also have a look at some YouTube videos that have been posted over the last year on each of these systems.

Thanks for the responses. I was fully ready to pull the trigger on Full Swing until I stumbled upon this site. Now I think I’ve confused myself a little bc I am such a perfectionist, I want my system to be perfect.

I will have 2 lefty friends that will be playing on the simulator.

Also, I don’t know what GC2/ GCQ...(sorry)

Here is what I am looking for, hope it’s not too much to ask for.

- High Res picture quality
- Consistent ball flight and numbers. (I am a scratch golfer so I would like to see consistency)
- After browsing on here I love the idea of playing TGC on my simulator
- I would like the simulator to double to watch sports/movies and so forth
- Aesthetically pleasing as I am putting this in my man/rec room

I’m sure I’m missing a few things, that is why I am asking for help/advice.

Just curious, since you said you have a pretty hefty budget. Did you look into Golfzon? They have a Vision series that has a moving floor for lie angle and what not based on preloaded 180 courses. With a moving floor plate its $45K for the standard model. It also includes an auto tee up and retrieval system... I think Matt Kuchar has one of these in one of his houses...

Here's my recommendation based on what you just said. Go test Trackman 4 and Foresight Hawk and pick the one you like better. Both are around 20k for the monitor. I believe TM indoors is that price. Both have great software. Both work great for left handed and right handed people. IMO

TGC2019 is the best software so if you want that more discussion is required but possible.

Thanks mthunt. I spoke to a Trackman rep this morning and I am going to test it out in the next week or so.

Another question...would I use the TGC2019 software when just practicing and working on swing or is that just for multiplayer gameplay?

I need to dig in and do some more research on Foresight Hawk as well.

I would go to the Foresight website and see their options and as noted for your set-up the Hawk might be the best option. There are a few members on this forum who have installed one within the last six months. Also, search for it on youtube as a number of people posted videos of it from the PGA show last month. Give the Trackman unit a good look and ensure that you fully understand the dimensions required to make that solution work (ask lots of questions).

Also, suggest you look into Foresight and the TGC if that is the software you are thinking of going with in order to understand what is needed on that front. I am not sure whether the Hawk works with TCG at the moment.

One thing to keep in mind with Trackman is the yearly maintenance fee they charge, which when we spoke with them, it was $1200 year I think. That's what we were told anyway. Plus, the putting isn't the best, which I think someone else mentioned.

We just recently bought the Uneekor (the current model using marked balls), and it's a very nice unit and reads really well. The downside being the marked balls, but it's not a huge deal.

Prior to the Uneekor, we used a GCHawk, and although we were really happy with it, the FSX2018 Software was really buggy in any mode other than Stroke play. We primarily play 6 or 8 man scrambles, and the software was really disappointing. This was the Primary reason for switching to the Uneekor, so we could use e6 Connect. Unfortunately for us, within the next month, Foresight announced at the PGA show that they would be integrating with e6...ugh! Had we known that was coming, we would have still been using the GCHawk.

If anyone is interested in getting a really good deal on a GCHawk that was used for a month, message me!

The Uneekor rep told me that this summer they will have an update that will allow the use of regular balls. So I guess my next question would be what is the difference in the FSX2018 software and E6 Connect? I am a little lost when it comes to that.

There's a HUGE difference between the two in our opinion! E6 Connect is the gold standard of Simulator Software, and I say that with all due respect to TGC 2019, but even they do not support Scramble Mode like E6 does. Regardless, the FSX2018 software does not hold a candle to the stability, performance and graphics of E6 Connect.

I vote GCQuad. With E6 coming soon that will give Foresight a really good sim option. FSX18 does has some graphic limitations. I would still pick GCQuad over anything else without E6. Again, this is my humble opinion.

You are correct...TGC2019 is really good software! We just can't use it because it doesn't support Scramble mode for our 6 to 8 man weekly scrambles. E6 is really good software. Also, the software is much more than what you see on the screen (although that is important), each system has their own "engines" and "algorithms" that they run against the numbers coming from the devices.

As for Foresight, as i explained in my first post, up until the PGA Show, you could only use FSX2018. However, they are now integrating with E6...

You can have both E6 and TGC2019. Many people have multiple sim packages and is why they can give you the good insight on the differences. I have played e6 connect and like it a lot. I personally feel having played both that e6 1.6 is better than FSX2018 and note that e6 Connect is better graphically than e6 1.6.
