Recently I began installing a golf simulator in our fitness center. Currently we have a 1 bay Uneekor system, which we have the mid level Uneekor system and TGC2019. I have a few questions for the community that may be in the simulator business.
1. If you are familiar with the two softwares, I'm curious of others business as to what softwares tend to work best in the long run for simulators. I have played several holes on both the Uneekor software and TGC2019. As far a someone new starting a new round / ease of getting started., I think the Uneekor software is much more suited for a first time user. Also, TCG visuals, especially the ball rolling, etc. tent to look better., however Uneekor, it feels like you can see / gauge distance better shot to shot. I'm curious if people have opinions on what users would prefer. There isn't a commercial sim anywhere near our gym I don't believe, and most will be unfamiliar with TCG, I only know of a couple people that have it. I haven't purchased the E6 software yet for the system., but is an option. I could upgrade the Uneekor software to their succeed and have 20 courses rather than the 4 or 5 that come on the mid level.
2. I use a door swipe entry system in our fitness center, which our members can come in 24/7. In the gym, the room the sim is in, I am going to put in a door reader for that room. I am going to require everyone requesting access to the space to meet with me to sign paperwork, learn how to get started, what is expected before exiting the room, etc. I am trying to determine the easier / best approach for the business model.
Option A: I use our website & mobile app which will have a scheduling app and ability to pay with a credit card and reserve a time slot. I'm trying to figure out a way to either have a screen with the time slots posted inside the simulator room, and / or some kind of software to manage giving them a code to unlock the computer / autolocks after their time frame, etc. Top golf software stops working after the time frame ends. I would like the computer to lock / go to sleep after their time elapses. If anyone knows of such a software that would work for a sim, I would love to know of it.
Option B: We charge our members a monthly membership rate, to play unlimited at a rate, maybe X$ to play a number of times, etc. I could charge them on bank draft.
Option C: We keep up with the door electronic swipes and do an ACH or credit card charge at month end based on their usage. I could put a key fob reader on the exit in order to get a record of the visit length.
My goal is to run the simulator day to day without manpower other than weekly cleaning. Investing time with people up front. I'm just curious for people in the simulator business, what type of model works best for them. I realize that a lot of sims are in bars where there is manpower already. Any helpful hints on either which software to use and / or the best way to run the business, I would appreciate the info.
