Very High Ceilings

Hi everyone, thanks for all the info on this site. I am in the process of buying a home and my wife is going to be nice enough to let me turn a second living area into my golf sim room. It's a 2 story house, but with nothing above this room so it has at least 18 foot ceilings, maybe 20 foot. Room dimensions are about 15x19, and the screen would have to go on the wall that is 19 feet long.

Other than using a floor mount projector what options could I have for mounting locations? Dropping a long pole down from the ceiling would not look very good. Maybe mounting on the wall behind the golfer could be an option, but then I would worry about shadows.

I'm probably going to pull the trigger on a GC2 for a launch monitor as I want TGC, and any overhead mounts don't really seem possible. Thanks for any thoughts.

You could mount it on the back wall. That is what I did. I have mine at roughly 11 feet and its 17 feet from my impact screen. Just build a shelf on a wall and put the projector there... You do need to check your projector specifications in order to make sure that you can project the correct size image you want. I have no shadow on mine and I have roughly 9 feet between me and my hitting screen.

A projector drop lift might be a good option if you can attach it securely to the ceiling?

My projector is on a bracket attached to a ceiling that is just over 11 feet high, so the projector is at about 10'6". In the 4:3 aspect mode than I normally use, the projector is 16'6" from the screen and I hit from 9'2" from the screen. So the projector is just over 7 feet behind the player. I do not see shadows, but my screen image is about 8 inches off the ground. If the image went all the way to the floor, I would see a little shadow for golfers over 6 feet tall.

I think I saw a post on here where the projector was on a boom arm that swung into position when in use, in the stored position it was against the wall.
